Read Rightly.

Fay Slimm.

Read Rightly.

War when long and drawn out throws its challenge
of thorns to fighters
caught up in sharing foes, wounds and more
compose victory cry.

Men start to forget who spilt first blood, who began
the shooting of hate
into guiltless bodies when filled with terror
not of their making.

Rage, no longer understood sees it insane for death
to stain earth endlessly
so brotherhood rises in love-parched hearts
desiring to mend.

When life is read rightly eyes melt in pity and cool
iron once smoking-hot,
teeth chatter no more in fear as hands raise
flags for battle to stop.

Celled in the same grief death readily calls
for opposing despoilers to cease from war.

Thanks FAY ~ By conviction I am a Pacifist and will state my case and take my stand should I ever be conscripted ! Members of my extended Family suffered for their stance as Pacifists in WW1. I WW2 they were drafted into non~ combatant services (medical etc). The old lie is still prevalent today "Dulce et Decorum est ~ por Patria Mori" Yours as ever ~ BRIAN

Super write Fay, if only they who cause the wars just sorted it out themselves without involving all the innocent people they send to fight wars for their own egotism.

The need for conflict has always been an integral element in the plot of the reality we create and share. Is it time for a new paradigm, a revision in the story of man?
It would require a monumental shift in the awareness of our species. There are encouraging signs in the new ones coming in ... we shall see.

A fine write Fay. We're the only species (a minority of humans?) that kills our fellow beings just for the sake of it surely, or because of being caught up in the conflict. Wild animals, etc need to kill for food. That we can understand.

So much spilled blood wasted and ruined lifes and for what? What was gained or lost other than the saintlyness of those who stopped it. Excellent writing on our ongoing self inflicted plague.

I bet if they had to fight war as they used to fight long time ago, with the king riding up front of the troops they would never start a war now. But the cowards can hide themselves behind inocente people and after they think there is victory. It is a shame. Thanks Fay for stepping out of your delicate field of flowers and write this.

Such powerful words. This is an absolute masterpiece of a poem.
