SOME MORE ONE LINERS

SOME MORE ONE LINERS

Their burning fires fused;  the gates of hope swung wide.

He stood on the far side of silence and never heard her plea.

___

Mediocrity is the bedrock upon which excellence is built.

___

Her visible grief on show to all, he gently stroked her arm.

___

Looks do not a beauty make for beauty knows no boundaries.

___

The drifting notes of saxophones: they played the colour blue.

___

His pipe dreams went up in smoke.

These one liners and aphorisms are brilliant! Love it! Do not know which is my fav. Great painting!

    • Michael Edwards

Thanks Christina - the last one was only added yesterday as a bit of fun and was written in response to comments made in my last posting. As for the painting I held on to this one and it hangs in our living room.

So beautiful it touched me, thank you for this. Well done Michael

These are very good one liners Michael. I especially like 3 and 6.

I like the painting as well.

      • Michael Edwards

Thanks Andy - I actually thought of you when I penned No 6

You are starting to know me too well. (Not a bad thing though).

Good writes and pic M. Ohh, I dunno if it's an aphor-wotsit or what it is. I wouldn't know in me haze of sherry-drinking! heehee.

          • Michael Edwards

            Probably one-aphorines.
What do you think? Ta O

You might start me off on my daft 'one' thing. It's a pretend cousin of mine. Always says 'one'. He is insufferable, selfish, horrid, etc. Goldie knows him!

Really like all of them Michael, and I can see why that painting is hanging in your house!

Do you take your one liners and expand them or just leave em as is I have lots of one or two lines written and then they either turn into longer poems or sit doing nothing ... like the painting nice balance and color good work Michael

Usually a few words or an idea pops into my head and I write it down - if I can't think of where to use it I develop it as a stand-alone sentence. Thanks so much for looking in.

Very touching and I like saxophone with notes on blue, my favorite color. Awesome little ones.

Thanks Malu - a bit staggered by the response to these so thinking about writing more than I would usually do.

There are some real beauties there sir! Each deserving of its own write without doubt.

Thanks dusk - so pleased you enjoyed them.

Love all of them, but this is my favorite.

Did you get any sleep at all. So many wonderful thoughts. Hope you did not burn your brain.

                            • Michael Edwards

I don't sit and write these in one go but rather over a period of days if not weeks as the ideas come to me - I've already started another collection which I'll post when are there are enough of them. Brain not burnt - just gently simmering 🙂 Thanks so much for your comment and for saving.

One liners are poems expressed succinctly... great job!

Thank you rr - comment so much appreciated.
