Yes, I’m a “Baby Boomer,” vintage nineteen fifty six
No “Love Potion No. 9”, so I stayed a flop with chicks
But memories buried so deep in my mind
Like pages in a book of lost time
And what a time it was, now over 40 years ago
For JFK’s funeral everyone cried, this I know
I remember the pounding of the drums
Another change in the world had begun
Because of his vision eight years prior to one afternoon
I saw on TV, the man on the moon
I think back to many a younger day
Life as it was back then, and I just a child at play
Just five more minutes in this pile of leaves
And my Superman cape flyin’ in the breeze
How tall am I today?
Would it really matter if I ate another hot fudge sundae?
Riding our bikes in circles, don’t ask why
No where to go, just so happy to ride
And what a time it was, I remember when
A little boy on TV with a bear named Ben
The music on my radio ties it all together
Memories of my youth all connected by lyrical tether
A time tunnel to the future or past
Looking back, how the years ran by so fast
I reminisce of names like Orr, Yaz, and Nance
Chasing that impossible dream of a Boston victory dance
And still I remember the pretty girl in fifth grade
How my heart fell in first love and the memory never fades
How eager I was on Saturday nights to drive
Crusin’ in a muscle car till sunrise at five
Roll on and on such memories, live on
Refresh my mind of good times by gone

A fine write AP. I could have tuned in to TV in 1917, let alone 2017, and still 'Neighbours' would have been on!
For USA - think of your most ghastly soap serial, if you've not got 'Neighbours'! If you've not got that soap, I wouldn't inflict on me worst enemy. And, I rant on - I refuse to watch any programme with someone in it named Toadfish! Sounds like some horrific alien being! Well, it could be true. heehee.
No orchidee, I've never seen your "Neighbours". Guess it was not worth seeing? Thanks for reading and your comment. ; )
Well, it got people in it called (nicknamed) Toadfish! So that's the level of it. It's ghastly. lol.
A fine write
Thanks Shannon. I do appreciate your reading and compliments. ; )
Nostalgia expressed captivatingly, AP! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks Louis. Glad you like it. ; )
I shared a lot of these with you , nice writing
Really? I bet a few of them had you thinking pretty hard to remember, eh?
Actually I don't have to think too hard my sports heros were from Chicago not Boston but I was in 5 th grade when JFK died and I recall it vividly that time and space molded me
Ok, so you must be a year or two older than me. Thanks again for reading. ; )
Reading your poem, like watching a movie in black and white. The wonderful old time memories.
Thank you.
Get ya popcorn here, soda and other snacks too. Step right up. ; )
Thank you for the full service. I smell the popcorn. so cheesy.
you took me back in time
Hope you enjoyed the trip. Thanks for reading Ron. ; )
Good nostalgic write, I was born eight years earlier than you the other side of the Atlantic, but I too remember cycling in circles and I son't know why either. Great times.
Ok, so they do that on the other side of the pond too eh? I thought only we yanks drove around in circles. Thanks for reading and your compliment Goldfinch. ; )
