WINTER
As stones that lie in frozen pools
when days grow short and ice accrues
and all that lies within is bathed
beneath a blankets cold caress.

Beautiful picture and poem. Although I'm not looking forward to winter, you certainly make it sound heavenly in your poem!
I can't say I look forward to it but have to admit there is much beauty in the coldest months. Thanks for your kind comment.
I'm starting to write sunshine poems Michael. Winter is nearly done. I happily gift it to you.
Looking forward to them frank - thanks for dropping by
Beautiful write, my type of weather.
Actually I hate it - short days and the cold but it can be beautiful time of year. Thanks Andy
Another fine write and pic M, dashing in before the day has started (time 0:00). Well, I'm a wet blanket sometimes. heehee.
Thanks Orchi - dashing in eh - you should see me with a smoothing iron.
Heehee - we missed a verse from a hymn at church, as it said 'harvest'. Mind you, it was mid-July, so nothing was 'gathered in safe from those winter storms' that are mentioned in that hymn!
Hmmm 'a blankets cold caress' sounds like my marriage.... I'm free.... Excellent seasoned writing (groan) ... love that picture.
Snow place to go - thanks for dropping by and commenting.
Thanks MICHAEL ~ The "Good Book" poses a question "Have you entered into the Treasures of the Snow ?" You sure have with this very symbiotic Poem & Pic ~ awesome. Christmas & New Year in the UK & the USA & all of Europe fall in the Winter ! That is no accident ~ Warmth & Feast within and the sparkling beauty of the snow without ! I've had Turkey Butties and cold Christmas Pudding and Ice Cream on Bondi beach in OZ on Christmas Day ~ it just was NOT right ! Please check my FAMILY POEM ~ thanks Brian .
Thanks Brian - the best Christmas we had was in the German speaking Italian alps - midnight skiers on the slopes with torches and loads and loads of Williams - plus so much food ....!
VIEL DANKE ~ THE GERMANS AND ITALIANS DO THE BEST WINTERS ~All that Snee und Gluckwein etc ! In December Angela and I are taking a cruise to the German Christmas Markets ~ DAS IST PARDISE JAH ! Diene Freund BRIAN
I'm envious - we did one about three years ago - great experience.
Oh! I love Bondi Beach. Lived there for three years. Ice cream on Christmas is possible in Brazil too.
I very much like your poem and the picture is gorgeous. I mean, the paint. Lovely Snow White.
Another nice melding of the arts ...good work
Thanks - the painting was acrylic - not my favourite medium.
What is your favorite medium I pretty much work in oils or acrylic
I work In two. The first is the more traditional watercolour . I do many village scenes and the like and have been lucky in that I get a regular flow of commissions (a persons house, the church where they married, the village where they live - that sort of thing). In direct contrast I paint abstracts using acrylic ink on mountboard. I do both demonstrations and workshops in both mediums. Next month will be busy with a couple of exhibitions, an abstract ink demo. and two shop windows as part of the Harborough Cluster initiative.
That's great Michael love to see more of your art work ....glad you are able to show and sell
You could take a look at my website but I can\'t say it\'s all that good as I am not a techy and have problems updating and maintaining it. It\'s at :

I am going to collect your four-season poem and put them next to the paint I bought related to four seasons.
I really feel flattered and thanks so much for saving it as favourite- I'll post Autumn tomorrow and on Wednesday I'll post spring (only half written at the moment) along with the other 3 seasons so that we have a complete piece.
Again, you dazzle us with a beautiful picture and a beautiful poem! Can't wait for the other seasons!
