Hanging on to life
like an oak leaf in fall,
with minutes or hours left,
just trying to get through it all.
Her eyes close one last time.
So her spirit can roam free.
Unchained of her earthly prison,
Now she can fly with the angels happily!
She died like she lived-
with pride and dignity.

Christina you wrote something very very beautiful and heartfelt here. Even though death is sad for the ones left behind, you caught a spirit of joy, maybe even happiness. And the last two lines are incredibly beautiful.
