Ignorance in Age.

Goldfinch60

All my life it has been there,

Music.

I listen to it,

I play it,

I sing it.

I think I know a lot about it,

But like life,

I realise

The more I get to know about it,

The more ignorant

I realise I am.

A fine write G/F. Yet we do know a lot. We both know a lot about 1066 for example!

The same goes for all my interests = well expressed. Did you see the proms big band music last night - loved every single note of it.

Well this version of 'so what' is one of my favourite pieces from this my favourite era of modern jazz (although i cant understand what planet john coltrane was on in his solo). Why are all the live versions of this by Davis done at 300mph i just dont understand. As a sax player i find theres plenty in music i dont understand but having not played seriously for several years now, theres a rediscovery of basic pleasures of making that noise we call music which disappear with familiarity too.
I enjoyed your write this time for all too obvious reasons. Thank you.

Many years ago, probably back in the 60s, I had a John Coltrane album and no matter where I put the needle on the record I did not understand what was going on. I wrapped it up and sent it to one of my cousins as a Christmas present - I got it back the following year.
Saying that though I have heard some great Coltrane.
I do have all the Miles Davis albums in my collection but Kind of Blue still stands out as a great album.
      Thank you for your comment.

Have you got the funk experimental Davis albums of early 70's guaranteed to upset the neighbors dog - transitional thank goodness. My all time favourite from 50's is Sonny Rollins 'Saxophone Collusus' LP. I was born in 52.

ANDY ~ Thanks for the memories ! MILES DAVIS (1926 ~ 1991) regarded as "The most revered Jazz trumpeter of all time" Gone but (due to a plethora of excellent recordings) never forgotten ! I agree with the accolade given to "Kind of Blue" ~ Miles Davis Sextet 1959 ~ it does merit its appellation "Most successful Jazz Album ever" The sweetest HORN ever ! Thanks for caring & sharing ~ BRIAN

Thank you Brian. I have all of Miles Davis' albums so I don't think he was too bad a musician.

We learn the value of knowledge after being ignorant, the more you know the more you realize you still don't know. Spectacular piece!

Yes, so very true. Thank you pb 5454.

As we get older we learn to be more grateful, to be humble, to accept things and people and we discover that many question we had still without answer and we then realize that it is not so important anymore. Then we are somehow happier. We don't need to know everything. I just love the calm way you write. Very soothing. Thanks

Thank you mal, so kind. Experience teaches us to be calm.

So true in many aspect in life.

Question: I've been trying to figure out how to add photos and videos to an entry. I've inserted embed codes and photos from my PC but nothing shows up in the preview. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

                      • myself and me

To add photos: click "publish a poem", on that page, under the block of "poem", there is an option"Upload image from your PC:", load your image file from pc. If the image is a online photo, pleas download/save the image as a file to your PC, then load the file. This is what I did. I never add videos, so can't help you with that. Hope this helpful.

Yes, that's exactly the way I tried it and nothing worked.
