Comforting Commissioning

Tune: All Saints

('Who are these like stars appearing?')

Isaiah 40 v.1-5

*******

Comfort, comfort you, my people

This your God does to you call

Speak comfortably, to them saying

Your troubles are o'er, Him bring

Songs of praise and gratitude

He has helped you, you renewed

For your war is over, and see

Your sins are pardoned by me

Then hark to a voice in desert

Prophet he, and wears hair-shirt

John the Baptist's work foretold

By Isaiah from of old

His voice cries, prepare you the way

Of the LORD, see clear as day

Make straight in desert a highway

In dark places do not stay

Make a highway for God sure

He does reign for evermore

Each valley shall be exalted

Hills, mounts, made low, He has said

Crooked places shall be made straight

Rough places plain, celebrate

For God shall come in His Son

Christ Jesus the holy one

And the glory of the LORD shall

Be revealed to one and all

All flesh it shall see together

Unto Him repentant stir

The mouth of the LORD this says

So would come prophesied days

Well, there's one good thing - some millionaires have lost homes or possessions. Shouldn't be so greedy! Ahh diddums! They won't even miss their losses. Of course we think and pray for those in the ongoing days ahead.

Thanks STEVE ~ I don't know how you do it ! Another perfect Hymn and another inspiring Poem to prepare us for "The Lord's Day" ~ AMEN ! My guess would be that your inspiration is not Harvey's Spirit (Jerez) but God's Holy Spirit ~ AWESOME ! Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Yours BRIAN

Thanks Brian. Some say - see what you can do, Orchi, when you put that sherry down?! heehee. (I'm 99% tee-total really). Well, sometimes I have a backlog, and other times nothing at all. The writing and posting dates may not always be the same. I know it can seem conflicting, this 'comforting' theme. yet 'comfort' can mean 'to solace' AND 'to strengthen'.
