THE RECURRING DREAM

Louis Gibbs

I experience a fitful recurring dream.

A dream full of madness and darkness

Interspersed with flashes of brilliant light;

An awful, splendid, dream that I dream

Upon waking each morning, day after day.

Today's dream evolved rather curiously ...

I dreamt I was writing this poem.

      "Surrealist" fits well. It is fun to stand back and contemplate the surreal drama as it unfolds. Thanks for your reply and compliment, Michael.

      All dreams seem to mean something. This one just happen to be one easier to interpret. Interesting.

      • Louis Gibbs

        Glad you could interpret it, U-V, and hope you enjoyed.

                    Life is a dream weave with time. When you are gone, the dreams disappeared.
                    Interesting dream and real poem.

                      And thusly, you may have found the cure for your recurring dream. Intriguing poem, well written, stirring the imagination. Can dreams remembered be separated from reality? As for life being a dream, it is of course, for what comes after life/? oblivion? Or another dream? Got to go now, got some daydreaming to do. - Phil A.

                        Hello Louis. Nice poem. I've read in spiritual books about that collective fantasy, or dream. If it is true we only get to awake after we die. It is quite confuse though because some says after we die some of us still don't realize the change because we are not prepared spiritually.

                          'Awaking' is a long process, requiring many lifetimes. We don't automatically attain wisdom upon leaving our bodies, but hopefully have grown in awareness and wisdom by each lifetime of experiencing. This is my belief at this point.
