Singing.

Goldfinch60

The Choir assembles,

And I am there,

Singing my heart out ,

With hardly a care.

I sing as I can,

And sometimes I’m wrong,

But my cares disappear,

As I sing each song.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I sing in three choirs, singing has the ability to raise you from sadness to happiness. The picture is some of my Church Choir, I am the idiot in the back row with the check shirt.

A fine write G/F. Off we go to do some singing again... I can't see any idiots in this pic! The guy with the beard on your left looks like an ex-Manager of mine. Might be him - he sings too!
It's true, you look like a rather distinguished church member I know. He and his wife have moved away now, but he was involved in the courts, justice, etc.

That guy with the beard standing next to me is our organist and he is one to the finest musicians I have ever met. He plays organ, piano, e flat bass in brass bands and sings tenor and writes music.

Do u do dreaded 'rounds', when it seems everyone does not sing from the 'same sheet'?!

      • Goldfinch60

I do with the Community Choir, they are quite fun, we always open our concerts with rounds.

Nice poem Goldfinch! And you look a lot better than I thought you would! 🙂

        • Goldfinch60

Thank you for your KIND? words Fred.

Well, the picture was kind of small and blurry (or is it my eyes?), but no matter what, it was meant as a compliment! And in any case, Goldfinch, you are not as bad as everybody says! 🙂

Nice one but as there are two with beards and someone on either side of them both I am still none the wiser.

              • Goldfinch60

I am the one with the checked shirt between the two beards.

And a handsome fellow you are to be sure.

                  • Goldfinch60

At least that is what the wife says.

I share your taste in shirts. Actually we do have quite a bit in common. My singing has been solo into a microphone though. Yes singing is very uplifting... i do it very often for the sheer pleasure it brings to me.

                    • Goldfinch60

If you share my taste in shirts you must be as mad as I am.. Singing does give such pleasure to all. I am Chair of Evesham Community Choir and have become quite a confidant of some of the Choir members and many have come and told me how singing with us has lifted them from their sad lives even just for a couple of hours per week.

God heard every word from you.

                          • Goldfinch60

Yes it just goes to prove that God has a sense of humour if he accepts me singing.
