Thinnest Divide.

Fay Slimm.

Thinnest Divide.

A fish,
like translucent rose-gilt
slowly swaying plays underneath

in weedy greenery.

A fin,
waving along bed of sand
rises to roll the lake's morning face

beneath early breeze.

A skin,
in thinnest divide warily
waits, separated only from my airy

world by liquid need.

A finger,
water-extended to make
bubble-rings for my human contact

with slippery silver.

A flip,
and fish dives fast beneath
mist churned up by interference,

glassily eyeing me.

A fine write Fay. I tried joining a fish without any air tank for 24 hours. It didn't work out for me somehow. Hmm. Strange that! lol.

Beautifully written, Fay, and as far as I read it, a great metaphor of us reaching out but not quite reaching it.

Go on Fay... dive in... you know you want to! Swim with those fishes gal... let the mermaid in your soul flip free... give my love to Coral if you see her.
    Nice one, made me smile.

Thanks FAY ~ Beautiful description of Mans relationship with the Piscatorial Domain ! I can't have CAT etc in my Flat but I do have Tropical Fish and the Yellow and Blue Tangs are my favourite. We are terrestrial Animals so we can scuba dive ~ but we can never be a FISH ! We can hang glide ~ but we can never be a BIRD ! Love the Poem & the Picture Thanks for caring ! Yours as ever ~ BRIAN
