My private pain that I keep
it cuts me so deep
Much deeper than any knife
I've carried it all of my life
Physical abuse I can take
A smile I can fake
But the emotional toll has left scars
I guess there is just something so telling
that growing up in a house of fighting and yelling
There must be something off about me
Most people say I've very loving and motherly
I gain a lot of praise for raising my family
So I think that says a lot about me
Even with those scars that I carry
They are reminders of what not to be
I am FREE!

A freely-written write there Christina! I took an old shirt one day, wrote on it every negative thing I could think of myself, plus what others may have said to me; cut the thing up, and burnt it all. Ahhh, therapeutic. Don't set house on fire. Erm, burn it outdoors! And not your best blouse / skirt / whatever! Remember, you gotta do it despite, burn it to ashes!
Thanks for that helpful advice, orchidee. I just might do that!
MY CHRISTINA ~ YOU ARE AN ANGEL ~This is why everyone on MPS loves you so so much. Your loving and spiritual character shines through ~ in your poetry which is always structured and allows you to express your remorse for the past ~ but also your Joy and delight in your Loving Husband & Lovely Children. Your comments are always sweet and encouraging. Any of my poems without "A CHRISTINA S Comment" i consider incomplete ! You are lovely and in the Holy Spirit ~ I LOVE YOU ~ BRIAN XOX
First of all, thank you for calling me an angel! But I don't know if I deserve that title. Thank you so much for such a loving comment, Brian! Love you as a sister-Christina
Good for you shed those demons and don't pass them on
Good for you to write them out also
Good work !
Thanks for your continued encouragement and wonderful comment. I appreciate all of them!
Very good write, in spite of your passed life you have moved forward into a great place in your life.

So glad to see you out with love and care.
Thanks m&m! I appreciate your kind comment!
This really reaches out - it tells me you have great strength of character as well as writing a darn good poem.
Thank you so much Michael. You have no idea how much that comment meant to me! Thanks again!
Well deserved - you're welcome.
Your warm heart shines through every line here Christina - - those final few words say it all.
I appreciate your kind words more than you know, Fay!
This was beautiful. The best revenge we can take on someone who causes such pain, is to live as if it did not hurt us. You expressed that so clear. If this is from personal experience, I'm very proud of you.
Thank you so much! Yes, I only write from personal experience. Your words are wise and they touched my heart. I really appreciate your kind words more than you know....
Beautifully written, straight from the heart. As they say, you've made it!
Thank you so much Fred! Your kind words are appreciated!
Sc many times i am caught out by somethig which was said or happened in my childhood. I dont think these things ever depart... we learn to deal with them.... to deal with the effect they still have upon our life every single day.
Yes, I forgave them but its hard to forget. Thanks so much for your comment. Very much appreciated!
Great poem Christina. I too feel that writing out your pain from your youth can help in filtering out the pain of the memories. You'll still remember them, but you can move on and live your life. Christina, you are a survivor! And a wonderful person. Don't ever lose sight of that. ; )
Thank you so much AP!! You don't know how much your words mean to me! I am so grateful to hear those words!
One foot in front of the other and one day at a time. ; )
Great writing Christina. Exorcising our demons is the best way to be clear from regrets or past trauma. You've made it till here so you are free.
Thanks so much malu for your kind comments. Very much appreciated!
