THE BETWEEN

Louis Gibbs

It's not so much

Life's challenges

And confrontations

I find the hardest

To endure

As it is the

Lonely

Sterile

Empty spaces

Between.

We need challenges and confrontations to fill the gaps - that's what makes life so great - and a great write to boot Louis.

    • Louis Gibbs

Yeah, I prefer them to the gaps in fact. Thank you so much for your kind comment, Michael!

The empty spaces are important to make them the best. It is with the empty spaces that we can create a new meaning for life.
With the gaps lays the answers.
I love your poem Louis. Very beautiful and poetic. Your words carries a great question. For you and many to answer.

I appreciate your comment and your wisdom, Malu. Not clear on your perspective and interpretation of the 'gaps' and 'empty spaces'? If you care to elaborate I'd appreciate it.

Ok, sorry about throwing my spiritual contents on my comments. On the spiritual teachings they say that we need empty spaces, gaps to create things. Let's say you have a wish. Something you want to bring into life. To happens. Then you go into meditation. First you think about what you want. Concentrate on it. Then you see it done. Ready. After that you clean your mind of any thought. Go deep into silence. Keep meditating like this every day. The whatever thing you want is going to happen. Thus after you think about it in concentration, you need to create a gap on your mind. You need to give it space to be formed. You need one empty space. This is the explanation.

Ah, yes, I'm familiar with this concept, and practice something similar in opening my awareness to the wisdom of my muse and guides on the other side ... be it in creating poetry, an invention, or whatever I wish to, or am drawn to, create. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your spiritual journey,Malu!

I do like your poem a LOT! But (there is always a 'but'), can you imagine a life consisting ONLY of challenges and confrontations? I believe that we need these empty spaces to give us breathing room and to let us get ready for the next challenge. I agree with you though that these empty spaces may be hard to endure.

                    • Louis Gibbs

You are absolutely correct, of course, and as I grow older I can appreciate your comment more. It seems that I came in with a mind that has no neutral gear ... must always be attempting to create one thing or another ... to maintain equilibrium in this insane world I suppose. Or perhaps an aspect of the autism spectrum? Maybe I'm just nuts. Whatever, I do appreciate your thoughts, as always.

                      • Louis Gibbs

I wish you the very best in attaining your goal of marriage and family, Brian. It should serve to fill any 'gaps' for quite a while.
