Make My Heart Sing

Christina8

I stood there, posed at a photo shoot

The sun was shining in my eyes

not knowing why all eyes were on me

The photographer caught me be surprise

"Your tears are beautiful", he said

I quickly patted them away

The sun made my eyes fill with tears

I'll never forget that summer day

It was my first time being the sole focus

and having my hair and makeup done

There was pride and accomplishment

in knowing what I had become

But in those days my deep brown eyes

Could not deny the camera the pain

So naive and young I felt that I just

had to force the dimpled smile and feign

For the people who would see those images

The pictures are a stark reminder of a lost place

But a picture really does speak a thousand words

If I only knew what they could see written on my face

But better times were ahead

I let go of some baggage first thing

The modeling career didn't last but a year

But then I met the man who made my heart sing

A fine read Christina - Your experience of shedding the heavier baggage is the best way to meet dreams as they come true. An emotive write.

Thanks so much Fay! I discovered that it actually wasn't what I wanted to be--so I went to college to become a nurse. I really appreciate the read and the kind compliments! (you were so spot on about shedding the baggage!)

Thanks for sharing ~ so sorry it was tinged with the sorrow of your first relationship etc i OUR GOD is an Awesome GOD and HIS PLANS for you were perfect and still are. Love being your MPS Friend ! Well, I don't know how to do photos or I would put one up! And I don't have a scanner or I'd put on a modeling pic. Yes, my eyes were stained with the pain of my former life but I have moved on and times are good! Thanks for your in depth and as always kind review. (how do i do a fusion on ladies?? be happy to do one for a man!) Hugs--Christina

Christina, it is amazing how your excellent poem touches on so many different aspects of life. There is the photography and how we always try to show our best side despite what is going on inside. There is the fear that the viewers will see more than we are willing to show. There is the release we get from shedding old baggage, sorrows and pain, and finally there is the happy ending!
You did an incredible job. Well written and full of strong emotion and meaning.

Thank you so much, Fred! I can't tell you how much your comment meant. Thank you for all of your compliments! My modeling times are what I refer to as my "past life"--Glad to be where I am now. Thanks again!!--Christina

I loved this so much. With this man, your modeling will last a lifetime. Beauty in looks fade, beauty in your heart, lasts forever. Thank you for sharing.

              • Christina8

Thanks about the "beauty in the heart" line. I really appreciate it. Thanks for the compliment, SM! As always--Christina

This seems like it was a difficult time for you I am glad you found your right path I'd rather know a nurse than a model anytime , very good poem you expressed your feelings very well

                • Christina8

Thanks so much, WL! I did enjoy modeling but always knew that path wasn't right for me. I appreciate the read and the compliment very much!

Good write, we all go through pain but that pain can lead to new wonders in life, as you have said in these words.
