A Writers Life

FredPeyer

Driving that Formula 1 racing car

Words coming fast and furious

Imagination set into overdrive

Taking the turns at unimaginable speed

Until I hit the wall!

Instant blank, everything stops

Exhilaration only a distant memory

Forced to deal with the wreckage

Sitting in that little wooden boat

With only a three HP outboard motor

Puttering along, dragging a line

Reeling the words in one by one

Riding a brand-new bicycle

With lots of time to observe

The world around me

Passing by in slow motion

The words arranging themselves

Beautifully and in order

Enjoying that slow ride

Through the country side

Then a welcome change of pace

Flying high above the clouds

A different perspective inducing

Heavenly sentences

Imagination now taking me

Into an abyss full of shadows

Where the dark paints

Words of sorrow and pain

Back in the sunlight

The words soar into the sky

In beautiful lines, mirroring clouds

Loving, tender, and stimulating

A writer’s life is unlike any other

Filled with unimaginable heights

Incredible dark, depressing lows

An exciting life lived on the edge

Wow, your words really come alive on the page! The last stanza says it all. We can dream and write it all. "a writers life is unlike any other" So true. Great job on this!!

    • FredPeyer

Thank you Christina! And you are right, we have to dream, use our imagination, but at the same time we also need to stay grounded in reality.

Writing ... not unlike Riding. Takes one on a thrilling, tenuous, emotion-packed journey, doesn't it. Beautifully expressed in this fine metaphor, Fred!

      • FredPeyer

Thanks Louis, it definitely has its ups and downs. And I am hitting that wall more often than I like. But overall there is much more good than bad!

Hit it again Fred great writing , I just pack it in and try later rather than banging my head to the wall .

              • FredPeyer

Thank you WL, I do the same really. We have a saying in Hawaii that fits perfect: 'If can, can. If no can, no can!'

You had my mind hooked at the start, I was in that car and already done a lap then hit Mars. Resonating with every word in between, the ending came like words of my dreams, I am so glad to see you on this edge of lifes vibrational field.

A true master of your thoughts here my friend, thank you for sharing.

                • FredPeyer

Thanks so much PD! I thought I was living in that vibrational field, but it was only my teeth clattering and my hands shaking! 🙂

When the writing stops from hitting that wall, listen closely for your muse with words written on the wall. Great write Fred. I love this. ; )

Mahalo AP, easy for you to say. Broke my glasses when hitting the wall, couldn't see anything.

                    • Accidental Poet

hahahaha, yeah, that might stop the writing. ; )

                      • FredPeyer

No kidding! Can see really good far away, but nothing in front of my eyes!

                        • Accidental Poet

Guess new glasses are in your near future.

Super write, as we write our words that bike will take us on a journey of writing them.

                          • FredPeyer

Thanks Goldfinch, with the bike slow and easy, with the formula 1 fast and furious! No matter what the speed, write we will!

This is amazing Fred. I was picturing you doing all those things and the words following you floating over your head. Fantastic writing.

                            • FredPeyer

Thank you Malu, I wish I could have done all these things, but the reality is that I am sitting in front of my screen. BUT, the imagination can soar and bring up any picture I want.
