HOT AIR BALLOONS ~ A Rhyming Acrostic Sonnet

BRIAN & ANGELA

HOT AIR BALLOON IN THE SNOW ~ AWESOME !

HOT AIR ?  Yes that is all it needs

ONE FLOATS  like Bird on thermal feeds

THE FEEL  for my Adrenalin pleads !

A BASKET !  Not First Class Cabin

I  the Basket sides am grabbin'

REALLY SCARED ~ Mah Honey's blabbin' !

BALLOONS ~ They are so elegant

ANY SHAPE ~ Cow Bear or Elly~phant

LIE FLAT & FLOPPY  on the ground

LOUCHE & LOVELY  they rise sans sound !

O BALLOON ~ on silk wings I rise

O BALLOON ~ Fly me to the Skies

NO BETTER SIGHT ~ Spectator swoons

SKY FILLED ~ with a Hundred Bright Balloons !

Thanks for watching ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN XOX

FLYING in a Hot Air Balloon is fantastic ! Much freer and

Birdlike than a BOEING 707 !  Apart from the blast from

the burner ~ it's as silent as a Glider !  If you've never

ridden in a Hot Air Balloon ~ try it ! There is no better

sight than the whole sky filled with dozens of coloured

Balloons. In the UK flights start at £100 ($130) per hour.

Yes I've been up and what a great experience - mind you we did have a bad landing on one occasion in which I ended up straddling a young lady (mind you she was the same age as me at the time) in a very suggestive manner. Luckily she saw the funny side of it and we both up in fits of laughter. Love the write Brian.

THANKS MICHAEL ~ Sometimes Opportunity Knocks ? Even in a HAB ! Your BRIAN

Thanks FRED ~ always colourful and always exciting ~ Good subject for a MONDAY MORNING POEM ! Yours BRIAN

      • Christina8

Great poem. I would be deathly afraid--just too afraid of heights to go on one. You do well with rhyming acrostics! Hugs-Christina

Thanks CHRIS ~ H A Balloon rides are a no no ~ for anybody with ACROPHOBIA ~ much more scary than in a BOEING 707 ! Well I like to set myself Poetic Challenges ! There are three constraints 1. ACROSTIC which determines the first LETTER of each line 2. RHYMING which determines the last WORD of each line 3. SONNET this limits the TITLE to 14 LETTERS and the Poem to 14 LINES. In a classical SONNET each line should be co~syllabic ~ In the above POEM each line is 8 syllables ~ iambic pentameter ! To encompass all these constraints in ONE POEM is IMPOSSIBLE which is why there are not many RHYMING ACROSTIC SONNETS on MPS ! W are praying for VEGAS terrible carnage. I have attended Open Air Concerts on the Strip and it made me cry with disbelief ~ is anywhere SAFE ~ on Planet earth ? ? ? Hugs of Comfort BRIAN @@@@@@@

WHAT? Guess I'll turn on the news! Thanks for the heads up and your prayers

Good write, I have never been up in one but we used to have a hit air balloon festival in our town s few years ago and I have some great pictures of them.

            • BRIAN & ANGELA

Yes indeed ANDY ~ a wonderful spectacle ~ especially in quantity 20+ ! I don't think there is an upper age limit for Balloon Flights in the UK ~ but they may not insure You & Steve. A friend of mine was left instructions in His Dad's Will for his Dad's ashes to be sprinkled over LIVERPOOL from an HAB ! You could always take such an option if you don't fancy a FLIGHT !

            • orchidee

We should take certain people with us, who are full of hot air! Save buying the gas! Names being..... (insert own answer).

              • BRIAN & ANGELA

Very droll STEVE ~ I am sure all my MPS Friends would put me top of the list ~ Pero ~ QUE SERA SERA ~ And you my Friend would be No. 2 ! Thanks still your MPS Friend ~ BRIAN

Thanks TONY ~ pleased you liked it ! YES you really do get a BIRDSEYE VIEW ~ BRIAN

                      • Azura Nightsong

I've never been in a hot air balloon, and everyone thinks I'm crazy because I want to 🙂

                        • BRIAN & ANGELA

NO AZURA ~ You are not CRAZY ~ it is very unique experience floating through the air just like a BIRD ! Try to book a trip ~ best to take someone with you ! It will cost at least £200 ($260) for TWO. Please let me know how you get on. People were flying in H A Balloons as early as 1793 many Years before the Airplane was invented ! So it is a very old form of travel ! Hugs ~ Love BRIAN XOXOX

BALLOONS ~ They are so elegant and they fly with silky wings with nice hope in so far sky. Wonderful imagery is drawn in this poem. Brightness is seen with eagerness. Brilliant poem is shared here.

Thanks FAY ~ for an encouraging comment. There are plenty of Ballooning Sites in the West Country. As you commented it is "The Sound of Silence" that makes it unique ! Your as ever BRIAN
