The future and the past
What’s one without the other?
Essential colleagues
Like a baby and its mother
The pull of tomorrow equaled
By the pull of yesterday
Both vie for my attention
Memories and dreams I save
I will admit
The past pulls on me more
I guess the only reason why
Is I’ve been there before
Familiarity worth
A lot in weight
And behind future’s door
There uncertainty waits
But that doesn’t mean
I’ll hide from tomorrow
My past ain’t all wine and roses
I’ve seen my share of sorrow
And the present
Always on the move
From one moment to the next
A persuaded groove
But the past does
Have a hold on me
Countless smiles across many miles
A lifetime of memories
When I think about
Walking a straight line
I’m pulled in both directions
Within the gravity of time

"The gravity of time" ... A wonderful expression! The entire poem is well expressed, AP. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks.
Thanks Louis, I appreciate your reading and compliment. ; )
Great work - it inspires me to write a one liner - thanks for posting AP.
Thanks for reading and complimenting Michael. ; )
The past has gone, the future holds the excitement of the unknown. Good write.
Every second, minute, hour and day is racing towards us as we speak. WHOA! Did you see that? That was a moment that just whizzed by. Look out, here comes another. And to the past they go. ; )
A fine write AP. By the time I've fussed about whether it's 'now', 'this moment', 'today', 'tomorrow' or whatever it is, about 6 months has flown by - probably! lol.
orchi, you just blinked and an hour went by. Where have you been for the past hour? ; )
Another timeless poem , well done
Thanks WL, so glad you like it. ; )
A beautiful poem AP . You know what they say, Yesterday's a history and tomorrow a mystery.
Yes wc, and the present is a gift. ; )
precisely
Great write. It flows so smoothly. Enjoyed it very much.
Then my mission accomplished. Thanks. ; )
Great writing. Past time is always going to pull as because it is the uncovered part of our life. It is most of our references. To live the moment you need to be a revolucionaire.
Thanks for reading and commenting malu. ; )
this is a touching write my friend, and very relatible
Thanks Ron. I'm happy you find it relatable. ; )
you`re welcome
Your excellent poem made me wonder what would happen if we include past and future into the gravity space time equation.
You, AP, could go down in history as another Einstein.
hahahahaha, And you Fred could go down in history as another Jay Leno. Thank you for reading and your over the top compliment. I am honored for you to say that. ; )
