The Gravity of Time

Accidental Poet

The future and the past

What’s one without the other?

Essential colleagues

Like a baby and its mother

The pull of tomorrow equaled

By the pull of yesterday

Both vie for my attention

Memories and dreams I save

I will admit

The past pulls on me more

I guess the only reason why

Is I’ve been there before

Familiarity worth

A lot in weight

And behind future’s door

There uncertainty waits

But that doesn’t mean

I’ll hide from tomorrow

My past ain’t all wine and roses

I’ve seen my share of sorrow

And the present

Always on the move

From one moment to the next

A persuaded groove

But the past does

Have a hold on me

Countless smiles across many miles

A lifetime of memories

When I think about

Walking a straight line

I’m pulled in both directions

Within the gravity of time

The past has gone, the future holds the excitement of the unknown. Good write.

Every second, minute, hour and day is racing towards us as we speak. WHOA! Did you see that? That was a moment that just whizzed by. Look out, here comes another. And to the past they go. ; )

A fine write AP. By the time I've fussed about whether it's 'now', 'this moment', 'today', 'tomorrow' or whatever it is, about 6 months has flown by - probably! lol.

Great writing. Past time is always going to pull as because it is the uncovered part of our life. It is most of our references. To live the moment you need to be a revolucionaire.

Your excellent poem made me wonder what would happen if we include past and future into the gravity space time equation.
You, AP, could go down in history as another Einstein.
