For Those Who Wish To Read

Accidental Poet

For Those Who Wish to Read

I’ve noticed a trend

Some seem to think my love is sad

What I write of my heart’s true love

For me is somehow bad

True, I’ll often write of Sharon

The love of my life

She set a benchmark of love

I’ve never seen an equal to be my wife

In nineteen seventy one

She moved away three thousand miles

Left me here alone

With a lifetime of smiles

But now I’m told it’s sad

Which reminds me of why I write

‘Tis not only for MPS

More that I not hold back my love light

My writes I made public

To share with those who wish to read

But if they read it or not

Still, an outlet for my words I need

And I find it’s sad too

That some don’t understand

They say the first cut is the deepest

And forever there I’ll stand

So, read of your own free will

Enjoy my writing if it suits you

The door is unlocked for friends

Leave a note should you choose to

But if undying love for one woman

Bores you to the point of despair

You’re not obligated to come here

In fact, I’ll not even care

      AP,
Thank you for the memories! The video of the Nelson boys is a treat! It transported me back in time...Ricky Nelson, their dad! I still have his 45. He was one of my favorites!
As far as your write, I support you and agree with WL’s and Martina’s comments!

      • Accidental Poet

Thank you Laura, Rick Nelson is one of my all-time favorites too. I was devastated New Year's Day 1986 upon learning of his death. A musical legend certainly. ; )

I will always read even though I may not always comment - just keep writing

          • Accidental Poet

Thanks Michael. A poet is challenged by only two things in life, a blank page and a full heart. From there a poet does what needs to be done. ; )

Your poems show the way you feel and that is what poetry in normally about. Those feelings should never be hidden and poetry is a great way of showing them. Good write.
