She just won’t accept it,
Or is it she doesn’t want to accept it.
She doesn’t like the way
Her Mum has changed.
The cruel world of dementia
Has turned her Mum
Into a different person,
And she just will not accept it.
She knows about it,
Knows the way her Mum is,
But is waiting for the other Mum,
The other Mum to come back,
The Mum she used to know.

Thoughtful and sensitive write Gold.. Hoping for some healing or miracle somehow perhaps?
Thanks Orchi. I has surprised me how quickly the demetia is taking more and more control of Joyce's mind.
Thanks ANDY for sharing and caring ~ a difficult but salutary poem to share. My MUM is 60 this year (December) and thank GOD she still knows who I am and we can still discuss the finer points of the Natural Environment together (she was a School Nurse !). Many of my Friends regularly visit their MUMS ~ but their MUMS don't recognise them ~ so sad ~ and they don't improve. Every Blessing in your relationship with your Lovely Wife and Family, Thanks for your very encouraging and positive Spirit ~ Yours as ever BRIAN
My wife still recognises me and our daughter but it is our daughter Whois finding it hard to accept the change in her Mum.
YES INDEED ~ Andy for any Child (in a normal Household & Family) their MUM & DAD are the most precious people in the whole World ! So if one of them "Changes! it is very very hard to understand ~ for them it is a "living death" ! Every Blessing ~ BRIAN
My adoptive mother died from Alzheimers, And no, it's not easy to accept or live with. But sadly, it is part of life. All we can do is comfort them and like Lynda said is to love them even more.
Very true AP, love them even more and make them laugh.
My father also suffered - it was heart breaking - super tender write Andy

I helped take care of a dear aunt who was so inflicted. A trying disease on all who love them. Good write on the matter, Goldie!
Thank you Louis, yes it is a very trying disease and more trying 24/7 but we cope.
Hopefully in time your daughter will learn to accept. Very thoughtful write. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Christina, I think she will accept it eventually but it may take some time.
