LIKE CORN IN WIND
Her wavering mind
like corn in wind.
In fireglow
in gold surround
now self aware
she wondered if
her words on paper
written down
would be received
but sitting there
her doubts returned
the ink well cap
she turned down tight
with stamp of rage
her secret kept.
Like corn in wind
her wavering mind.

Beautiful write, that ink well cap couldn't have been that tight as the ink produced these great words.
Thanks Andy - I now have a pair of pliers in my travelling kit to open bottles and tubes now that the strength in my hands is no longer what it used to be,
Michael,
I hope she’ll soon loosen and
remove that cap to pen her secret
that enraged her so!
Beautiful painting to illustrate
your well written poem !
~Laura~
Thank you Laura - hope she's got a pen. 🙂
So do I!!!
Good write and pic Michael. Some were enraged with me in 1066!
That's because you ate all the pork pies.
Thanks MICHAEL for an excellent Poem & Picture ! All Poetry is ephemeral ~ like "Corn in the Wind" ! On MPS they are only featured for ONE DAY ~ like "Corn in the Wind" ! Please taste my PUMPKIN SOUP ~ BRIAN !
Thanks Brian - feeling a bit ephemeral myself at the mo.
Another good intro. to a sequel my friend - I love the intrigue of title and verse - - your pen and brushwork is as ever exquisite.
Thank you Fay - keep 'em wanting eh?
Wonderful write this morning! I think Goldfinch described it best! Wonderful painting, I'm sure we'll be seeing snowy landscapes soon....
Thanks so much Christina
All around right now the corn stalks are golden and they shimmer in the wind . Beautiful poem and painting , Michael
A beautiful sight - they have now been harvested in my area and the fresh ploughed fields are home to crows - thanks Bill
Desolate but calming picture! Excellent poem of wavering thoughts on expressing her mind. Both well done, Michael!
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment Louis - so much appreciated.
Love your poem, Michael, and love your answer to Martina's comment!
I do like your open ended poems exactly because they let the reader's imagination go wild.
Looked up 'corn in wind' quotes and found this:
A light wind swept over the corn, and all nature laughed in the sunshine. Anne Bronte
Thanks so much Fred and love the quote - only wish it were mine. The Brontes used such fabulous language. My favourite authors are Hardy and Mary Webb but the Brontes are right behind them.
