Lake Michigan looks like an ocean
Mad autumn waves crash on the shore
You get so close to God, in this sacred place
Especially in the warm months, you want more
Young love is best savored here
Pure innocence found walking on the pier
Behind the lighthouse is best to steal a kiss
Happiest place ever with the one you love near
The sand on the beach is perfect
It's the only heaven on earth I know
Perfect for lovers to walk hand in hand
If you saw it, you'd want to go
As sun sets, purple and red hues
light up the heavens above
And birds overhead fly by
As people below fall in love
The stars are out tonight
I wonder if you see them too
They hang in darkened sky
I could reach and get one for you

Oooh yes please - I want to go to Lake Michigan after reading its magic from your talented pen Christina - you worded a beautiful picture of faraway shorelines I may never see. Thank you.

I've grown up on the east coast where salt water in the norm. Once I was on the shore of lake Erie and tasted the water to find it as fresh water. Always wanted to do that. Lake Michigan might have to make it's way onto my bucket list. Great write Christina.
Oh yes, you must add it to your bucket list. Some beaches are worth it!. Thanks for the read and compliment!
Great poem for a Great Lake I live about half an hour ride from the lake yet rarely visit ....
I know, I've lived very near the shorelines of one of the most beautiful beaches on the Lake and don't get there as often as I'd like. Thanks for the read and the compliment!
Beautifully written, Christina!
Maybe you should send it to the Michigan State Tourist Authority (or whatever the tourist department is called), and while you're at it, send it to Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana as well. It would make great advertising!!!
LOL, I think you have more faith in me than I do! Our city is in our advertising for "PureMichigan" I think.I really appreciate your compliments! You made me smile, so thanks!
Hell yeah! Sounds like my childhood I'm from Michigan and grew up on this lake! Thanks for taking me back!
Awesome! Glad you identified with it! Glad you liked. Appreciate the read! And the favorite save!
Hmmmmmm I may have to make my way over to America at some point, sounds beautiful on this lake!
Well, lots of people do! They love the freshwater. But it doesn't stay warm for long! Thanks for the read!
Such a beautiful place, I would like to visit or maybe even live there.
Well, it inspires people to do either! Some live here in summer or year round. Thanks for reading!
