Dark Mood

FredPeyer

The torrential rain mirrors my mood

Dark, wet, intense, cutting off air

It will eventually ease off again, I know

But in the mean-time I truly am there

In that place where shadows hunt

Where reality is twisted and strange

Leaving turmoil in its  turbulent wake

With me silently longing for change

The rain recedes but leaving a gift

A beautiful rainbow, a sign of peace

In this beauty provided by nature

I find that much sought for release

My mood is lifted from the depth

Color replacing my hearts dark space

Deep breaths begin filling my lungs

The dark mood is gone without a trace

The rain that washes the soul. Paints a great picture - well written Fred.

    • FredPeyer

Thank you Michael, the mood outside the window is very often a mirror of the mood inside the window.

Rain can be a cleanser for both outside and within. Good write.

      • FredPeyer

Thank you Goldfinch! It is funny how we equate our moods with nature.

      • orchidee

        A fine write Fred.

        • FredPeyer

Thanks Orchidee, but compared to yours I am not so sure!

        • orchidee

Well, it is a good write Fred. Not that it's particularly 'dark'. Though 'dark' is rarely my genre, it helps folk, we know, if they can express dark things.
Meanwhile - I wish I would express something without singing it. It only torments folk when I say 'And now a song from me'. That's fairly dark and horrific. lol.

orchidee, I love you the way your are. You don't have to sing for me! Just keep me a glass of that sherry! (or Whiskey, or whatever, as long as it has alcohol)

            • orchidee

Shhh, don't tell Goldie (Goldfinch) I've added water to it! lol.

              • FredPeyer

It's all good orchidee, your water probably comes from a whiskey barrel anyway!

Thanks FRED ~ You have hit on one of my uplifting Mantras ! In times of stress I always say "After the Rain come the Rainbow ~ You can't have the SPECTRUM without the SPECTRE ~ AMEN ! Thanks for sharing ~ thanks for your comment on my New York Poem ~ Yours BRIAN

                • FredPeyer

Brian, I am so glad I could do one of your mantras justice. Hawaii is the rainbow capital of the world! I have seen so many, and sometimes we get to see double rainbows as well.

and may your rainbows remain to bring you the peace and beauty you so deserve. this is a great poem, FredPeyer.

                  • FredPeyer

Thank you so much Kevin! Not so sure about deserving it, but I take it anyway!

With rain comes the gift of life on this planet. I try to hold onto that thought when all is wet and gloomy ... not easy is it, as your fine poem describes. Well done, Fred!

                      • FredPeyer

Mahalo Louis, that is exactly the way we should think, always see at least something positive in any situation.

                      • myself and me

Rainbow only showed up in the sky after rain. Love the contrast in this poem.

Thanks M&M, so whenever it rains we have something to look forward to! The reason Hawaii is also called the 'Rainbow State' is that we do have a lot of them. Once while driving from my home into Honolulu (a 30 minute drive) I saw two beautiful rainbows and drove through three localized showers with sunshine in-between!

Our mood can change in an instant, given the right reason. When washed away we can be uplifted

                            • FredPeyer

So true, lasergraph! Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment.
