I am not, and never have been, comfortable with religions.
Concocted doctrines have always left me cold ...
'My god rocks, your god sucks,' thinking.
'Die a martyr and claim your seven virgins!'
'Accept our dogma and claim your heavenly mansion!'
I cannot comprehend a mind that doesn't question bullshit!!
Guess what ... spirit bodies don't have penises or vaginas!
Nor do they have need of any form of housing!
It all tends to make me just a little crazy.

I absolutely love this poem, Louis! While I do believe that everybody has the right to believe whatever it is they want to believe, I also believe that everybody has the right to non-believe! And I do not like it if somebody thinks they can push their believe down my throat.
Finally, I do not think you are a little crazy, I think you just might be a little enlightened!
It takes one to recognize one, my enlightened friend. Your support means a lot to me, and it is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Fred.
If anyone is offended then it is their problem - not yours - a great write on a very vexed subject.
Many thanks, Michael. I do appreciate the support!
Good write, although I am a believer I also believe that people should have their own beliefs or not as the case may be, as Michael has said if others have a problem with the way we think and write it is their problem, not yours.
I am overwhelmed with your support along with others, Goldie. I was hesitant in posting this one, but now see I'm not alone in my views. Many thanks!
I understand, where 'religion' is just seen as a set of rules or regulations, as a 'thing'.
I'm rather un-questioning. 'Blind faith' maybe, but hopefully not just blundering in and believing anything. Rather as a monk said ages ago: 'Subjecting my reason to faith'. Very wise, I think.
And another wise monk said, "We are here to awaken from the illusion of our separateness." I do appreciate your kind remarks and open-mindedness, 'O'!
Was he a 'Christian' monk, Louis? My quote is from Thomas รก Kempis, a German Christian monk from the 15th Century. I put up one of an occasional series of hymn-poems at times, of prayers that he wrote.
We believe in our faith whatever it may be, and all have a right to believe as they wish. Great write Louis.
Most certainly. I agree completely, AP. Thank you for your input and compliment!
I love this poem Louis and definitely agree - Syd
Thank you so much, Sid, for your kind remarks!
With or without religion, it is something very personal. If everyone could respect other's choice, this world will be more peaceful. Very well expressed.
Respect of each other ... What a concept! If the species endures long enough we may see that one day. We can hope. Thanks for your wise comment, m&m!
THANKS FOR SHARING LOUIS ~ You know how I think Louis ~ I am a COMMITTED CHRISTIAN and my concept of Heaven is based on the Scripture which does not make False Promises for Martyrs ! The BIBLE in fact leaves it up to our imagination ~ which in the end would understate it ! Despite the Glories of Planet Earth ~ Natural & Manmade ~ "Eye has not seen ~ Ear has not heard ~ Nor has it entered into the Heart of Man ~ What things God has prepared (in Heaven) for those that love Him ~ 1 Corinthians 2 v 9 I have Faith that my future destiny after Death will be HEAVEN and I don't speculate (outside of what the BIBLE teaches !) but I do know it will be much better than the best I have experienced on EARTH ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN.
Sorry, but I don't understand how a bright mind like yours can limit its thinking to the confines of what is written in just one particular book, Brian? There are many books written that contain such great wisdom, and truths that resonate with the soul. There are many great prophets throughout history who have shared their wisdom with us, such as the Buddha, from whom Jesus took much of what he taught. You have so much to offer, and it pains me to see you restrict the boundaries of your mind to such a degree, my friend. Thank you, however, for your comments in response to my poem. Be well!
