Remembrance Day Acrostic.

Goldfinch60

Remember them all today

Ever present in people’s lives,

Men and women who died

Even though they knew not why.

Made to fight by others,

But they did their duty,

Reached out to do good,

As told by those in power.

Never being told the truth,

Cut down in their prime,

Ever in our thoughts now they have gone.

Do lets us build bridges

And stop conflict in the world.

Yearn for Peace in our Time.

A fine encouragement and tribute Gold. You are surely one among those our good Lord spoke of when He said:' Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God'.
It's a pity there's no peace in hearing me sing! lol.

Thank you Orchi, if only the peacemakers can give us peace.

But you is one among them, who 'sows' peace, as it says! 🙂

A part of the responses in a Prayer Book, for Evening Prayer I think, says:
'Have mercy on us, O Lord.
              The response is:
'For there is none other that fighteth for us, but only thou, O God'.

DULCE ET DECORUM EST ~ PRO PATRIA MORI ! Is it did those who went "Over the Top" in WW1 or into the "Battle of Britain" in WW2 ~ really know WHY ~ will we ever know why ? But that is not the question ~ the question is "Were they willing to die that we might live ?" The answer is always YES and because of the "We will remember them !" Thanks for sharing an awesome Acrostic on an equally awesome Topic ~ Yours BRIAN.

Goldfinch, after reading your incredible poem, I did feel like standing up and saluting. Did not do it physically, but did it in my mind.
The line that disturbs me most is 'Even though they knew not why'
And even today, the powers that be keep on throwing young men and women into that war meatgrinder.
Yes, peace would be nice for a change!

                  You are so kind Fred.
Yes it is still happening that young men are being sent to die, if only we could find peace and love in our world.
