IN WINTER ~ When the weather's cold
We don't go out in't Ice & Snow
We snuggle up by the fireside glow
The sledge unused ~ I'm getting OLD !
IN SPRINGTIME ~ When the weather's warm
Spring flowers bloom ~ the Snow is gone
We're out and about ~ with no coat on
We hear the Bees ~ startin' to swarm !
SUMMER days in a golden haze
Picnics alfresco in the Sun
Boys in skinnies ~ Girls in minis
Lazy hazy Summer days !
After Summer comes the FALL
These are my bestest days of all !
Swish through leaves ~ it's easy livin'
Then Pumpkin Pie an' a fine THANKGIVIN' !
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ BRIAN XOX
I'm an Honorary American ~ because I shared the
Agony & Pain of 9/11 in 2001. Because of that and
the fact that further mayhem was prevented we
always celebrate THANKSGIVING ! It's on Thursday
23rd November this year ~ Let's all CELEBRATE !
In America it was first celebrated by The Pilgrim Fathers
in November 1621 to thank GOD for their first Harvest
over 400 years ago ! The Celebration was attended by
53 Pilgrims and 90 Native Americans ~ AMEN !

- Comment from author about the poem: In 1789 President Washington established the last Thursday in November as THANKGIVING DAY and a National Holiday. In the USA in addition to a great feast in which TURKEY & PUMPKIN PIE are essentials ~ there are Parades ~ Processions and a great deal of RAZAMATAZ ~ in 2015 45 million Turkeys were consumed. The Pilgrim Fathers did not observe Christmas so for many Americans their Thanksgiving Dinner is more important and more lavish their Christmas Dinner ! If you have never been a Guest at a Middle-Class American Thanksgiving Dinner ~ You haven't lived ! Love to all BRIAN & ANGELA XOXOX

such a pleasure to read of your reasons for genuine thanks my friend - wishing you a very happy thanksgiving feast.
Thanks FAY ~ Pleased you enjoyed my "Ode to Thanksgiving" ! National celebrations are interesting and each Country has its own. I have studied American History (with the OU and other means) so I understand the importance of THANKGIVING ! Because there are Americans everywhere they celebrate it everywhere ~ but not normally outnumbered 2 to 1 by Native Americans as in 1621 ! I have been in America for Thanksgiving and it is always a FEAST to remember ~ Yours as ever ~ BRIAN
Ohh, I learn something every day - well almost, with you as a fount of knowledge. It's all too much. I've swooned in amazement. heehee.
Thanks FRED ~ Modern American History only dates back 500 years to 1492 (Columbus) so it is easier to get a handle on it than British History. Thanksgiving is in essence almost as sacred as Christmas. Many of the PILGRIM FATHERS died but those that survived to enjoy their first Harvest (Autumn 1621) wanted to thank GOD for their deliverance and His abundance in the New Country. They were greatly helped by the Native Americans hence their attendance at the First Thanksgiving Dinner. The subsequent massacre of the Indians and their treatment today is a sad indictment of the ways in which the Settlers made "America Great" ! I fear under TRUMP it's happening AGAIN ! Yours BRIAN
Thanks for this fine poem mostly about Thanksgiving. It's a wonderful time of year! Being with family and friends and then a wonderful meal! Wishing you as always a happy thanksgiving feast! Sisterly hugs-Christina
Thanks CHRIS ~ Pleased you enjoyed it ! I know it's two weeks away but you already mentioned it ! My mum has her pumpkin for PIE and a small TURKEY ~ She will cook a Thanksgiving Dinner on the Thursday Evening for 7pm because we have to WORK ! Thanksgiving Hugs for you ~ BRIAN "For all things give thanks !"
Actually, it'll be 400 years 3 years from now. But a beautiful tribute to Thanksgiving Day Brian. I work in the town of Plymouth, and they are gearing up for huge celebrations in 2020. Beautiful write Brian and thanks for sharing.
THANKS for your correction American History is big subject for us Brits ! I love the EAST COAST many historical sites etc. I'll pencil in a visit to the East Coast in 2020 ! Pleased you liked the tribute to Thanksgiving ~ Yours BRIAN
If you do come to Plymouth in 2020, be prepared for heavy traffic in the area. Even now, 3 years from the 2020 celebrations the tourists are everywhere. And Plymouth Plantation (the village of the Pilgrims) will be packed.
Coeeee, am I 'Saint Fred' now?! 'Saint Steven' here - Orchi. But call me any name - except Julie! People call me Julie (Andrews) you know, cos I sing The Sound of Music. (Oh, that Orchi's a daft wag!). lol.
Thanks STEVE ~ you are such a multifaceted person that I keep confusing you with TOM ~ DICK & HARRY ~ but certainly NOT JULIE ~ Thanks for your comment ~ BRIAN
Not sure if I will be celebrating but my thoughts will certainly be with our American friends.
Thanks for your comment MIKE ~ Because of our links in the USA (My Parents have visited all 50 States !) We do celebrate and invite Americans who may be visiting or the Mormons who are Evangelising in the Area ! However my Mum's Christmas Turkey is much bigger than the Thanksgiving One ! Yours BRIAN We don't celebrate Independence Day for obvious reasons ! George the Third was not the First "Mad British King" and he won't be the last ! Yours BRIAN
Brian, I think all the turkeys in England are now hiding! Great poem of the seasons!
Good write and message for a glorious celebration.
