COLOGNE CHRISTMAS MARKET ~ THIS WEEK !

CHRISTMAS ~ Festival of Joy and

Happiness ~ Oasis of Cheer

Refreshing "A Bleak Mid-Winter !"

I like singing Carols ~ because

Singing them makes me Warm & Happy

The Carols tell of a Baby in a

Manger who "Died to Redeem the World"

Also Songs about Reindeer and

Santa Claus ~ There's also CHRISTMAS

FAIRS & MARKETS ~ Chance to sample

All things CHRISTMAS ~ Gluwien und Bratwurst !

I LOVE fancy dress ~ Fairies & Elves

RED Cloaks & Hats ~ Tinsel and

Silver & Gold baubles ~ for the CHRISTMAS TREE !

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN XOX

This week I spent four days visiting three Christmas

Markets in Rudesheim ~ Bonn ~ Colgne ~ AWESOME !

German Christmas Markets have a special magic ~ not

just the GLUWEIN (you keep the 2017 ceramic cup as

a souvenir) or the 12 inch BRATWURST !  It is the whole

razamataz (good word !) Pinewood cabins bursting with

Christmas Goodies ~ Chocolates ~ Jewellery ~ Toys ~

Winter Clothes ~ Food for Christmas ~ Snow ~ MAGICAL !

The CHRISTMAS MARKETS in the UK & USA are all based

on the German Model !  The best one in the UK is at

WINCHESTER where Actors dress up Dickensian

which is an integral part of Christmas in the UK. Try and

visit one in your area ~ Kids (from 5 to 95) all love them !

I am jealous - spent Christmas eve in Cologne a couple of years back - magical.

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks MICHAEL ! It is indeed magical the UK Christmas Markets are a poor facsimile ! Yours BRIAN

Loved learning about the markets! Nice pic and acrostic! If I took an international trip, it would have to be this time of year, sounds awesome!! Sisterly hugs, Christina

THANKS CHRISTINA ~ Christmas is always MAGICAL ~ as long as you can cope with the Weather in the N Hemisphere ~ but you are used to SNOW ! Christmas in Mexico is quite different 75F and sunbathing on the Beach on Christmas Day ! The CHRISTMAS MARKETS in EUROPE are all great but the German ones are BEST. We are still in the E U until 2020 withdrawal is very slow ! Brotherly Hugs from the UK (cold ~ wet ~ snowy in Scotland) You would feel at home in Scotland (it is surrounded by WATER) and get lots of SNOW ~ you would the Men in their Kilts and the Scottish Dancing etc ! Yours eternally BRIAN @@@@@@@

It is so much fun to spend time at Christmas market.

        • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks M & M ~ Yes they are all SIMILAR ~ but no two are the same. Great places for Fast Food and Hot Mulled Wine (GLUWEIN) ! The thing I love is that everyone is HAPPY and slightly uninhibited ~ we all acted like Big Kids last week ~ Christmas Hugs ~ BRIAN @@@

A fun write and experience Brian.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

Yes indeed STEVE a great experience ~ Its always fun to see the GERMANS in Festive Mood ~ They are at Beer Festivals und Christmas Markets ! It was part of our Colleges European Studies Programme ~ so because I was a Chaperone and an Interpreter my costs were subsidised from £400 down to £100 ~ one of the few perks in Education but 20 Teens & Twenties take some chaperoning ! I had to study German for my Science Degree ! Yours BRIAN

I love Christmas! Nice poem. I have a German exchange student friend, she said Christmas is a bit different over in Germany. She's excited to celebrate America's way.

            • BRIAN & ANGELA

HI AZURA ~ Thank for your comment ~ how are you ? Christmas is celebrated differently in different Countries ~ I have been in NEW YORK @ Christmas and MACEYS is amazing and the Salvation Army singing and collecting like in the 1940's Films ~ except that now they have a CD instead of a CHOIR ~ The decorated Houses in New Jersey (where we stayed were also awesome) much more glitzy than the UK ! In Germany it is the Christmas Markets that are the big thing ! In the UK we have Halloween then Bonfire Night (5th November) and after that Christmas starts because we don't have THANKGIVING ! Will check you poems ~ Christmas Hugs ~ Yours BRIAN (UK)
