Passed on down the Dynasties
The Chinese brush displays
The rhythmic skills of mastery
Through frameworks formed by principles
a product of the Sandlewood tree
On porous paper strokes directed
by hair of wolf and goat applied
the ink of soot and gum.
Held upright in the hand
Condensed in time the brush applied
Through pressures in directed strokes
mirroring the artists mind
Reflecting Ch’i and energy
With form and space in complement
Avoiding lines in symmetry
crystalized through skills acquired
An artists road to self-expression

Looking forward to tomorrow.
It's finished but I keep returning to it and twiddling - I should leave it alone.
A fine write again Michael.
Nearly there
Ha - Reading this makes me want to try for myself the mysteries of painting with almost no symmetry Michael - - the picture you chose as an example shows your mastery over this method of self-expression. Wonderful idea to post the work in in stages and almost a masterclass in itself.
Thanks so much Fay - not sure about a masterclass but it's the way I usually work on the more serious stuff. The picture, although it has undertones of Chinese brush, is also influenced by the wonderful work of the Canadian first nation artist Bernard Chee Chee who I first came across when I toured the Rockies.
