A ROSE is the most perfect flower
Of many colours ~ scents and shape
Single stem ~ or in a bower
The beauty of the Rose you can't escape !
How can I make a Rose the Gardner's plead
I smile and say ~ not make ~ but plant
So first you need a tiny seed
Which colour ~ size & shape & scent will grant !
A tiny seed ~ has the Rose within it ?
YES ! Programmed in its DNA
Just plant in soil ~ to begin it
Every seed is special and designed that way !
The DNA makes ENZYMES which control
PATHWAYS to create colour and scent
And leaves ~ stems ~ thorns ~ the rigmarole
To make a Rose that is the seed's intent
When I pluck a Rose and feel its beauty
Perfect blossom on a slender rod
I look up and I feel my duty
To state "The Foolish say there is NO GOD !"
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN XOX
I am a BIOCHEMIST and it is the key subject to understanding
Plant Biosynthesis ~ The complex ~ enzyme controlled pathways
which synthesise the "molecules" which give each Rose its own
distinct colour ~ scent and shape ! I have studied in depth the
elucidation of Plant Biosynthesis and for me it enhanced the
beauty and preciseness of the Biosynthetic Program ~ to create
a Rose ~ encapsulated in the ROSE DNA in a ROSE SEED ~ AMEN

Most eloquent and educational Brian. I probably picked up snippets from school, but did not pursue science.
We humans are as grass, and our glory as the flowers - here for a time, then gone. But wondrous while the beauty/glory lasts.
HI STEVE ~ One of the problems of being a Professional Scientist is that you always see LIFE though science tinted specs ! However this always augments rather than diminishes the Wonder of GOD's awesome creativity ! METRE is often missing~ I like to have metre rom MPS Poetry The metre here is 12 1010 12 in each verse Use it as you wish I never copyright any of my Poetry ~ Life is too short for restrictions ~ Yours BRIAN Pleased you enjoyed the Poem thanks for your comments & support ~ BRIAN
I should like to adapt this to a hymn-poem Brian, if you are willing? Oops, must not pinch other's work - no plaguey-wotsit - plagiarizing!
Multiplying after their own kind only surely gives evidence of glorious creation as does this wonderful poem of praise dear Brian - a fine read indeed - and saved.
Thanks FAY ~ This is an important principle in Nature of the fixity of species. The structure and function of DNA provided the key to understanding GENETICS ! This is of great help to ROSE BREEDERS (such as CANTS) to improve their current Stock and produce new strains ! Like
KEPLER ~ I always say "Science is thinking GOD's thoughts after HIM" Pleased you enjoyed it Yours as always BRIAN
Love this all the way (well not the last line of course) and believe it or not I still have an HT rose in (almost) full flower and leaf great homage to a great plant.
Thanks MICHAEL ~ There are still roses blooming in my Mums Garden but they are rather sheltered. Thanks for you supportive comments ! I don't apologise for wearing my FAITH on my SLEEVE ~ but I do apologise if I implied YOU are a FOOL ! Blinkered perhaps but NEVER a FOOL ! Your Forever Friend BRIAN !
Cheers Brian - blinkered is a word I suppose we could both lobby so no offence taken. Just been out there in the garden and we also have a beautiful pink hellebore in full flower - a joy to see.
The rose is a beautiful flower as are your wo do Brian.
Thanks ANDY ~ It is the Beauty ~ Purpose ~ Order & Design in The Animate & Inanimate Created Universe like a ROSE and the structure of DIAMOND and DNA that strengthens my Faith in a Creator GOD ~ AMEN Thanks for your appreciation ~ BRIAN
Well done Brian! Am with Michael all the way! So I guess I am 'blinkered' too! π
But don't forget, being 'blinkered' means we do not get side-tracked and can concentrate on the important straight ahead.
THANKS FRED ~ Well i tried to us a non-offensive word ~ and I agree with Michael ~ I sure am blinkered ! Thanks for your comment ~ BRIAN
Wow π what a beautiful poem Brian
I loved the sentence
The dna makes enzymes which control π
Roses are actually my favorite flower πΉ
Thanks SG ~ I try to see everything through Scientific Eyes ! Unfortunately not everyone has had the privilege of an advanced Science Education ! DNA does indeed photosynthesise the enzymes for the biosynthetic pathways which determines the style of the Rose Bush an the colour and scent of the Rose ~ awesome | It's not Rocket Science ~ it's Rose Science ! Thanks BRIAN ~ Pleased I chose your fave flower B.

βHow can I make it?-the gardeners cry.β
That was brilliant. I enjoy it when your poems discuss the science behind your topics. Iβm also relieved to see that science and religion donβt contradict one another.
(P.s. biology is my favorite branch.)
Thanks SB ~ BIOLOGY is a very important subject ~ it describes who we are and what makes us tick ! For me my Faith in God just make my academic understanding of Science even more wonderful ~ the Creation gives me a glimpse of the Creator ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN
"the foolish say thier is no God"
We are all of us fools but still I say amen to that. I love poems on roses and I loved this especially the scientific viewpoint. thank you...peace
Thanks FRIEND ~ It is true that in the PRESENCE of GOD ~ all Man's Wisdom is Foolishness ~ but to deny the existence of GOD in the light of all the evidence ~ is real foolishness ! Thanks for your comment ~ BRIAN
i love flowers so hence i loved reading this π it was expressed in a very nice way , enjoyed
