Law of my Mind

FredPeyer

My mind is working in overdrive

Images, thoughts, words, flashing like

A cerebral power-point presentation

A mental ping-pong game hitting

Every corner and crevice of my brain

Too fast to follow

Too convoluted to understand

With no slowdown in sight

Getting more and more lost

In the impossible, the unattainable

Giving up on even trying to

Exert any kind of control

Letting go, succumbing to

Just be and acquiesce

To the law of my mind

To be open for anything

To trust without fear

Very good write Fred. "To trust without fear" is the way that life should always be.

Thanks Goldfinch, yes, life should be like that. It is a little bit like I imagine one feels when getting ready to jump with a bungee cord!

A fine write Fred. Ahh, you are thinking. That's more than some of us do! heehee.

      • FredPeyer

Thanks orchi, there is nothing wrong with your thinking, judging from the beautiful way you write!

      • Michael Edwards

It's how my mind works at times as well - the number of times something flashes across it and whilst thinking about what comes next I have lost the last thought. Fine work Fred.

        • FredPeyer

Thanks Michael, sometimes it feels as if I had 'lost' more thoughts than I ever had! 🙂

Yes I often have an awesome thought, (well sometimes) or really good line and then...whoosh...its gawn! I like the 'ping pong' of the mind!

          • FredPeyer

Thanks Elsie, I put a voice recorder app on my phone. When I have a good (at least what I think of a good) thought, I record it immediately. Only way not to get lost.

Good thoughts Fred as always !

            • FredPeyer

Thanks WL! I wish they were only good thoughts, but with the good there is all kinds of 'bad' ones mixed in.

            • Accidental Poet

Not easy to keep all the thoughts of a genius in line. But you do a great job of it when writing Fred.

              • FredPeyer

Aww, AP, mentioning the 'g' word made my day already early in the morning! Wish it was true, but we can keep on dreaming! 🙂

                • Accidental Poet

No need to dream Fred. You've got a way with the pen.

                • Louis Gibbs

Sounds like your fertile mind is roaming outside of the box these days, Fred. Congratulations, and condolences. One can get lost out there, but I am sure you will be fine! Roam on, my friend.

                  • FredPeyer

Thanks Louis! You are right, I was WAY outside the box with 'wanna f tonight', but that is what happens to writers, right? One of these ping-pong ideas sticks and before you know it, there is a poem, or a short story, or even a novel! And sometimes that idea takes on its own life and leads you to places you didn't even imagine. So, happy roaming to both of us, and everybody else here on MPS!

THANKS FRED ~ My definition of POETRY is anywords~in~anyorder ! Because of this I always find "overdrive poetry" enjoyable to read and impossible to understand ~ perfection ! Thanks for scaring ! Yours BRIAN

                    • FredPeyer

Thanks Brian, didn't mean to 'scare' you! 🙂

                    • poetboy123

Wonderful, relatable piece with great rhythm!
