LOVES FIRST TASTE
The worst of fears that night time brings,
which self-suppressed her long lived joys
and cloaked her unencumbered dreams,
had blunted sensibilities.
And though she walked unsteadily
unbalanced by invidious thoughts,
the leaden hand that grasped her soul
released its hold by slow degree.
As sunbeams weave tomorrow’s dreams
and melted notions soon dispel,
so prospects came with reasons change
absorbed in love’s first taste.

Good write and pic Michael. Did she swoon when she tasted?! I did, of course! heehee.
Thanks O - she swooned with her head in the clouds and her feet in the soup - now there's an idea for a shortie - I'll post something tomorrow.
Love's first taste sometimes lasts a lifetime. Great write Michael.
Mine did and she's upstairs right now getting ready to go out - will she ever be ready? LoL Thanks AP
I've come to understand that "getting ready" to women takes going out to a whole new level. Hope your day was great for both of you.
Nice work Michael both poem and painting
Thanks Bill - the painting was only a five minute sketch but it seems okay.
Michael, beautifully written, and I agree with SL, that last stanza is something else, you may be smug for as long as you want! And for a five minute job, that painting is amazing!
Thanks so much Fred - much appreciated.
Thanks MICHAEL for a lovely balanced Poem 'n Pic. Thank heaven Love's First Taste leaves one wanting more and is never the last. At my age the taste of love ~ still has its freshness and anticipation ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN
Good write, that first taste of love is something quite special and is always remembered.
