Double Doors

FredPeyer

She struts through

The airport terminal

As if she owns it

Determined and proud

A beautiful woman

Carry-on in tow

Staring straight ahead

Eyes blazing  a message

Don’t even think of it

Impeccable makeup

Ruby red lips

Set in stone

Her face hides

The anguish and pain

Of a love lost

Sad eyes, yet defiant

The head held high

Ache and agony

Contained within

No slowdown

No looking back

Some regrets maybe

Deeply suppressed

For what might have been

But is now a closed chapter

Resolutely looking forward

To a new life

Maybe a new love

Waiting for her somewhere

On the other side of

These double doors

Forward into a new world - great work Fred

    • FredPeyer

Thanks Michael. During my last trip to CA I was watching people in the airports and I guess this poem as a result.

Super write Fred, their new life awaits them, a life of love, joy and happiness.

        • FredPeyer

Thanks Goldfinch, but we don't know that. The poem is wide open.

        • Louis Gibbs

A well portrayed example of emerging from a difficult life experience with the determination to press on. Kudos, Fred!

          • FredPeyer

Thanks Louis, sometimes that's all we can do.

Looking forward is the best thing a lady can do under the cloak of impeccable make-up - - a great read Fred.

            • FredPeyer

Thanks Fay, love how you picked up on the make-up thing! 🙂

Woah u are an observant poet to capture all that without really knowing so. Awesome imagination put to great poetic description of her. Come to think of it I could picture many such a person, both men and women but to put it all so superbly is credit to your great pen. A zillion kudos for this poem, im just swayed by it.

Soo nice to read from u again. Pls do review comment my latest poem too, titled,"play it on your lips"

                • FredPeyer

Thanks a lot, zaynab! Will do!

                • BRIAN & ANGELA

THANKS FRED ~ I'm always pleased when my flight is delayed @ Heathrow or Gatwick or even Stanstead ! WHY ? Because it gives me TIME to People Watch and AIR TRAVELLERS are always interesting. I have observed many "resolute" Ladies (such as you describe) who erect an "unapproachable" barrier ~ BUT I suspect ~ are hurting inside ! Your poem would make an excellent opening to a thriller ! As we all experience (at one level or another ?) "Hell hath no fury like a Woman scorned !" Thanks BRIAN

                  • FredPeyer

Thanks Brian! It really is fun to do airport people watching, making up stories about them in my head.
