Am I There Yet?

Goldfinch60

There am I,

Just laying on a bed,

The tests and scans all done,

Blood taken,

And now I wait,

Wait for the blood test results,

To see if I am dead or alive.

Of course you're alive

You daft bugger,

If you were dead

How could you write these words?

Of course that is one way of looking at it,

But what if it is My Spirit

Who is writing these words?

As far as I am concerned

My Body and My Spirit

Are one and the same!

So all who read these words

Just ponder,

Is he still with us?

  • Comment from author about the poem: I must apologise for not writing on the site yesterday but I was not well and ended up in hospital by ambulance with a suspected heart attack. Luckily it wasn't and I am at home now feeling better than I did yesterday but still not 100%. The staff at the hospital were excellent and I have nothing but praise for the way they treated me. I wrote this later during the day when I was feeling a bit better. The answer to the last question is "Yes he is!".

Missed you, even for a day Gold! Best wishes as you recover.
It did not stop your words of wisdom!

      • Goldfinch60

Thanks Orchi - words of wisdom eh? Have you been at the sherry again!

        • orchidee

Oh yes, they only seem words of wisdom to me after I've been at the sherry, of course! heehee. I'm delirious then, after one or three sherries.

Sounds like the stress of your situation has gotten to you, Goldie. Might you want to consider getting some help caring for your wife?
May you find the strength to keep going and writing, either way.

              • Goldfinch60

Thanks Louis, yes that was a wake up call for me and this morning a respite plan was discussed with the relevant people. Thank you for your concern
