LUMBER

Michael Edwards

LUMBER

The wreaking axe

annihilating, hacking, tearing,

shattering hulks once dignified

with traceries against the sky

no more on natures stage.

Good meaningful write, so much is being destroyed in this world.
    Beautiful artwork.

Thanks Andy - I collected this painting from a local gallery where it had been on display for three months - sadly it didn't sell - now back hanging in the studio but I'm sure it'll go sometime this year.

Michael, the painting is gorgeous! And the poem ain't bad either! Don't know how you do it day after day!

Thanks Fred. I have to admit I find it hard to keep up a continuous stream of 'serious' stuff which take quite a bit of thinking and time and have to rely on light verse to keep going - they are usually only a single stanza and seem to come from nowhere. Also I have a lot of oddities which I have added to Fusions which I can pop on here if I struggle to keep up posting on a daily basis.

A good write and true unfortunately. Trees there for many years - then gone in a moment.
Meanwhile - lumber - or lumbered with me singing?! lol.

        • Michael Edwards

Forgive me for being a bit of a plank but surely your voice has a great timbre - or are you telling me it's a bit wooden?

        • orchidee

Plus the old mystery - If a tree fell in a wood, and no one was there, would the tree make a noise as it fell? Hhmmm.

          • Michael Edwards

If someone felled it someone would be there - if not I imagine it would bark. Lol

Like everything else in nature, we all get the axe someday. At least trees are a renewable resource, unlike oil and coal. Good write, Michael!

The words, "Tear down paradise and put up a parking lot" come to mind. Great words and great art, I always enjoy seeing as well as reading. Keep 'em coming.

Will do Laser - thanks for looking in.

              Thanks Michael.

              A superb write.

Trees a symbol of infinite natural beauty destroyed by man.

              Keep writing
