Death arrived suddenly
On quiet paws
Glistening sharp fangs
And powerful jaws
Life is uncertain
And not guaranteed
One moment we are feeding
The next we are feed
We don’t know
How, when, or where
But one thing is sure
Death will be there
Only fools worry
About it in advance
We just ignore it
And take our chance
Living in the now
No thought of tomorrow
Without worrying if there is
More time we can borrow
And when that day
Is finally here
We welcome it
With happy cheer
It’s graduation from
Our present condition
And we are off to
Our next mission
What shape or form
That mission will be
We have no idea
But can’t wait to see
It is all good, there’s
No heaven or hell
Just more adventure
And stories to tell

Good write Fred. I differ as to the last verse - you may know.
Thank you orchie! Yes I know orchie, and you have every right to differ! I respect your belief, and do hope I may be allowed to differ. I admire and respect you as a person and a writer! I am sure we would have a great time together, despite different opinions in some areas, drinking sherry and singing karaoke, with you swooning and me, as usual, making a fool of myself.
Thanks Fred. Aww - in that case, I must be making a fool of myself, adding water to whisky. They are gonna shoot me for it, if they catch me! lol.
And this is the in-between bit with more adventures before the end-bit. Also I'm with you on the last verse. Yes I really enjoyed this write.
Thanks Michael, am happy that we are on the same wave-length. Was just thinking, that there really is no beginning or end. It is just one long experience with different episodes.
and you're next mission is to keep on writing these wonderful stories you breed from out of life. great write, Fred.
Thanks Kevin. In-between missions I will have long discussions (time does not matter there) with Shakespeare, Poe, Hemingway, Bukowski, and many others, so you can be assured that my writing will be much improved the next time around!
Well penned portrayal of the unending journey, Fred! At least, if there is an end, it escapes my imagination what it would look like.
Thanks Louis, sometimes I even wonder if I have enough imagination to make through this lifetime. But hey, I am the adventurous type and will take it as it comes.
Brilliant write Fred and so true, our adventures will never cease. I will see you in eternity.
Thanks Goldfinch! Looking forward to finally meeting you!
