When you visit AUSCHWITZ (Which is near KRAKOW in
POLAND) you are faced with the reality of HOLOCAUST
The cramped quarters where they "lived" the "Showers"
where they were Gassed ~ the "ovens" where they were
Burned ! The shaved hair ~ The cases the shoes ~ the
crutches and false legs of the disabled ! All Human
Life "lived" there and all Human Life "died" there. The
Third Reich tried to obliterate it ~ but enough was left
as a stark Testimony to the Horror of the Holocaust !
Before I visited I knew about the HOLOCAUST ~ When
I visited I BELIEVED ~ Love & Peace to ALL ~ BRIAN !

A sombre write Brian. There must be some 'special' terrible judgement against those who persecute God's own people, the Jews.
Monstrously, the whole world became involved in war - and twice in a century.
Animals would not treat each other as humans do. But then, animals have no sin. Even the birds do not sign there, it's said.
It is TRUE Steve ~ we were there a whole day ~ birds but no song ! However a YOUTH CHOIR from Jerusalem ~ wearing the BLUE Star of David ~ did sing ~ which was a miracle. GOD was fully aware of the HOLOCAUST but in His Sovereignty chose to use HUMANS (GB & Her Allies) to completely obliterate the Third Reich and not ANGELS ! The 1000 Year Reich lasted just 12 bitter YEARS (1933 ~ 45). A powerful reminder that those who despise the JEWS also ~ a priori ~ despise GOD ~ "Don't deceive yourself ~ GOD does not allow Himself to be MOCKED ~ AMEN" Shalom BRIAN
I'm looking at Daniel in Old Testament. It's quite impossible that any human tyrant can ultimately win. As you say, 'God is Sovereign'. Though we know we can't just wave a magic wand over the wars, as if they did not happen. Nebuchadnezzar in his dangerous unpredictabilities, etc.
Such an awful time in this worlds history, but some people deny it happened. We know it happened and in some ways similar situations are still happening in our world but maybe with out the vast numbers (or are there).
Very true ANDY ~ Ethnic Cleansing has always been endemic in Human Society (and always will be !) CAIN killed ABEL because he was different. Because I work in HIGHER EDUCATION ~ I have to be very unbiased and free from prejudice otherwise I would only employ WASPS (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants) and only WASPS would get FIRSTS ! Yes indeed FAY ~ The HOLOCAUST will always be the high watermark in History ~ for Man\'s inhumanity to MAN. However we don\'t learn for others mistakes and Ethnic Cleansing seems to be endemic in Human Society. I am pleased I live in the UK ~ which despite being made up from FOUR very different Countries and having an increasingly multi-ethnic Population is still very inclusive and egalitarian ~ The Cornish always treat us nicely when we visit Cornwall ! We had a private tour of both Auschwitz and Birkenau and the memory of it will live with me forever - such a tragic place and great write about it Brian.

Thanks CHRIS ~ Yes the worst example of ETHNIC CLEANSING in History and it has taken 80 years for the JEWISH POPULATION in Europe to return to the level in 1933 ! We can visit KRAKOW for a week quite cheaply from the UK and spending a day at AUSCHWITZ does add a new dimension to ones understanding of the HOLOCAUST ~ It only needs one MAN like HITLER (or TRUMP ?) to destroy a NATION ! 'Ethnic cleansing' is a crime and is still going on in various parts of the globe. Poems like yours put the spotlight on these problem, and hopefully, one day, if there are enough spotlights, something will be done about it. But I am not holding my breath!
THANKS FRED ~ Ethnic Cleansing seems to be endemic to the Human Race ! Groups in POWER always want to incarcerate (remove from Society) and even eliminate People who were different ! The JEWISH race in the UK are very successful (inherited intelligence ~ strong Families ~ education ~ diligence ~ moderation etc) and the same was true in Europe. Hitler resented this and saw them as a threat to Ayrian Culture ! Incarceration started in 1933 and ended with the FINAL SOLUTION. Jews will always succeed because of their CULTURE and we should support them and work with them ~ OK The World Population of JEWS now exceeds that of 1933.
