What’s a Man to Do?

Accidental Poet

What’s a Man to Do?

I’ve spent a lifetime

Learning of love

The various levels

A heart can speak of

Yes, more than once

Love had me in its grips

And not always a kiss

Upon favored lips

Once married, once divorced

Three years wasted

But Lessons learned

And love briefly tasted

Now entering my elder years

Finding love a daunting task

Maybe I’ll find a way

To wear a young man’s mask

And all too often

Desire has me under arrest

Lips that need to be kissed

Curves that beg to be caressed

But bar rooms not my style

My quest, a woman of class

Not necessarily of money

But of respect she has amassed

Any woman my age is either

Married or boyfriend in hand

Or hundreds of miles away

Even on foreign land

So what’s a man to do

Without a woman by his side

For a woman makes a man complete

Bringing out his best that hides

A fine write AP. We must add extra 'u's in UK, such as in 'favoured'!

Thanks orchi. I have to wonder why that is.

This is heart-tugger in its appeal for patient waiting for the right one to appear - -a favourite read for me A.P. and the number brings tears with it too.

Very emotive write, I do hope that you find the love of your life.

Well Andy, she's been gone for a very long time and more than likely forgotten all about me. But on the unlikely chance that she should reappear I'd welcome her with open arms. Aside from that, I'll probably stay single. Since my divorce in 2011 I still haven't dated anyone. Not that I wouldn't now, but I just don't see any real prospects in my local area. But... I do have my eyes wide open looking for potential prospects. Thanks for reading.

Great poem, AP! The more we search, the less we find...the more we push, the harder the opposition...
Do it the Hawaiian way: Relax, let it happen, if can, can - if no can, no can!
And remember, all it takes is ONE person!!!

I do agree with you Fred that not trying too hard is the way to go. In the past I've found that when I try to make something happen it all goes wrong. I believe that if its meant to be, it will happen without a lot of effort. The effort part comes in after two people meet. And that one person can be like a needle in a haystack.

Great plea to the universe my friend, just keep turning all the corners virtual and physical. I bumped in to my queen on a site called badoo 😉

Thanks Dan. My eyes and heart are open. But should I have to, I'm ok with where I am.
