Tune; Breslau
('Take up thy cross, the Saviour said')
Matthew Chapters 26 & 27 parts
*********
Judas Iscariot betrayed
The Lord, on Him his heart not stayed
But thirty pieces of silver
Blood-money price to him they were
Yet Jesus says the Son of Man
Himself that Son, for none else can
Fulfil all that of Him is writ
It shall be all as God wills fit
But woe to Judas, he the one
Traitorously denied the Son
Good were it for him if he had
Not been born, in human flesh clad
So with a kiss he did betray
His Master, he did turn away
Under cloke of friendship and love
He grieved the Spirit, holy dove
It be too dark, he did repent
And back to priests and elders went
Returned money and then did say
Innocent blood I did betray
But they not caring, said, So what?
Sort it out yourself, that your lot
Was too much, and then tragically
Judas commits suicide, see
Lord help us see where any traits
In us open enemy's gates
May we follow on firm and true
Devoted, loyal, e'er to you

Good one Orchi. Just a thought, where would we be without Judas?
Thanks Gold. I see what you mean. Yet Jesus said that He, the Son of Man, goes a it is written of Him in the Scriptures (the prophecies made about Him in various places in the Bible), yet good were it for the one who betrayed him, if he had never been born.
LOVED THE TUNE ~ STEVE ! JUDAS ~ not a topic I would choose ~ But you are covering all 12 Apostles so JUDAS is a must ~ on balance you did a good job ! I give a talk on the 1930's (one of my fave eras in the 20th C) but of necessity I must devote some time to ADOLF HITLER and the HOLOCAUST ! One of my Grandfathers ~ who was born in 1933 once told me HITLER had ruined his LIFE ! The same could be said of JUDAS the very antithesis of the APOSTLE JOHN ! Thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN
Thanks Brian. Yes - though he did repent in the end, things got too dark. The men of religion - called hypocrites by Jesus - didn\'t help and didn\'t care.
Thanks orchidee. Your poems are hypnotic.
Thanks wc. Oops, don't want to send you into a trance, or anything spooky like that!
