THOSE.
Those whose mind-set is not sprung
from the cadence of restless waves
never believe how shanties related
to mariners make the best seasong.
Those whose respect the vast ocean
accepts learn its tongue and sense
vagaries known only to weathered
eyes gaging gale's warning motion.
Those whose life is water-attuned
gather from a precocious sea-bed
slight marine movement as netted
success gives wealth of fresh food.
Those whose voyage grows safer
by viewing surface-swell pictures
of sea's behaviour hear whispers
of change in liquid-loud breakers.
Those who respect ways of winds
as sign before sky turns puce get
wisdom's view that helps correct
under-currents' writhe as signal.
Those whose courage might face
lashing dangers of watery tongue
must do battle with ocean-strong
tow while hauling boats to safety.

Ah, yes...in peril of the Sea!
Respect! It’s all about respect...my great grandfather’s words!
My great grandfather, a fisherman from Naples, was all about having respect for the Sea!
As per my mom, his mantra was “YOU HAVE RESPECT FOR THE SEA AND THE SEA WILL SERVE YOU WELL”!
Enjoyed the read my dear Fay. Thank you for sharing!
~Laura~
Laura - thank you for sharing your own experience of family members facing the unpredictable sea - -- - fish caught in conditions of storm demand bravery born of respect for the sea. Your comment is greatly appreciated my friend.

Ah - thanks a load for your warm comment Fred - life at sea is fraught with hazards and brave fisher-folk need tributes from poets like me.
Wonderful write Fay, those who go to sea are so brave.
Shanties are very meaningful if you listen to them properly.
