People say

That less

Is more,

This is less,

Is it more?

    Great work Andy.

    The silent wind and string
    to which I listened
    in mute admiration
    and eagerly awaited
    the next performance
    heard in silence.

      So true Michael.

      The silence comes
      The silence goes
      But with each silence
      The intensity
      Becomes so loud.

Less is more works when the emotion is strongly conveyed. In music a splendid example is Eric Satie's trois gymnopedies played on solo piano as it was written.

Thank you da. I have the Eric Satie works for piano and also by Jacques Loussier which is equally emotive.

Good write Gold. I produced a song of 4'33" silence. It' the only song of mine most people will buy. Hmm, strange that. Wonder why?! But it's been a best seller!heehee.

It is a piece that is worth reading about.

Thereā€™s more to this write than less! A good one, Gold! Enjoyed the silence...except for the tinnitus! Thatā€™s a nuisance!

THANKS FOR REPRISING ANDY ~ I have experienced it at a concert ~ very moving ! And once at a College Concert I volunteered to "present" it as a Piano Recital ! Half the audience were expecting to hear something and were very bemused when I sat at the PIANO for 4' 33'' then got up and bowed and left the stage. They were even more bemused when those who knew of JOHN CAGE gave me a standing ovation ~ I came back and took another bow ~ even more amusing was that the MC presented me with an "imaginary" Bottle of Wine ~ c''est la vie ! I also played the Moonlight Sonata ~ which is my favourite classical piece ! It's like Ronan Keating's song "You say it best ~ when you say nothing at all". I have also written several "Wordless Poems" my best one is entitled ANARCHY ! Thanks for sharing ~ BRIAN

That piece is very meaningful as it makes people think.

Agree with Laura, including the tinnitus!!! Am trying to overpower or at least forget it with background music. Doesn't work! Oh, btw, less can be more and more can be less!

                  • Goldfinch60

Yes Fred it can work both ways.
Sorry about your tinnitus, it must be such a nuisance.
