Tune: Forest Green
('O little town of Bethlehem')
John 1 v.1-14 parts
********
In the beginning was the Word
This message we have heard
The Word was with God, and was God
Upon this earth He trod
The same was in the beginning
With God, and there nothing
Was made without Him, Christ the Lord
He e'er that living Word
In Him is life, this life the light
Enlightens all men bright
Shines in the darkness, and not be
That darkness o'ercomes, see
For Christ has come, a light for all
Upon Him all may call
The light of life does on us dawn
Redemption's happy morn
He in the world. it knew Him not
Did not believe, forgot
But as many who Him received
They have on Him believed
And to such He does power give
To be His sons [and daughters], they live
Not born of old humanity
But born of God they be
The Word was made flesh, and did dwell
Among us, we know well
His glory they beheld, glory
As of the Father, see
Glory as of the only one
Begotten, He the Son
He full of grace and truth, He came
Jesus Christ be His name
