BENEATH THE WANDERING STARS

BENEATH THE WANDERING STARS

On superstitious nights like these

I fear the ghostly silver sky

yet in my heart I’ll not prescribe

to myths and legends plaintiff calls,

for my resolve will lead me on

beneath the wandering stars.

    May your words forever flow
    May your colours forever glow
May the stars shine always bright
    May your journey never end

"To approach the spiritual in art, one will make as little use as possible of reality, because reality is opposed to the spiritual.”

    - Piet Mondrian

Thanks Andy - whilst I enjoyed his work it did get a bit much of the same after looking at a the first dozen or so .......this is the first of a series which I did using the same shaped head.

A fine write and pic Michael. Ohh I got no time for superstitions. I can't spend all me life avoiding walking in front of black cats; not stepping on lines on the pavement; not crossing on the stairs, etc! lol.

An under-ladder person eh Orchi - so am I - in fact I go out of my way to go under ladders - I'm convinced it brings me luck - well it must do as nothing has ever fallen on my head.

Great imagery and super write on what beliefs do to the psyche. The picture I put a question mark by - -I guess I love your water-colour villages too much.

Thanks Fay - it's funny how tastes vary.

I have an anecdote about abstracts which I may have mentioned before but:
When I used to organise exhibitions in the Hospital where I worked the CEOs secretary, on looking at an abstract, said 'I don't like that at all - I just don't like abstracts'. I replied: ' I bet you like the pattern on your dress - are you telling me if you put it in a frame you wouldn't like it any more?'

A few days later she told me she had taken on board my comment and had changed her views.

Thanks MIKE ~ I was born under a wandering star but have to settle as an "Essex Boy" for the next few years In essence all visual ART is abstract because it is "absracted from reality" Some of course is further removed from reality than other. I like CUBISM because you never completely lose sight of the "subject". Thanks for highlighting visual Art. Love the Poem ~ it provides thought for food ! Yours Abstractedly BRIAN

Among the art fraternity abstract generally means devoid of physical representation. This picture would usually be classed as semi-abstract - not that any of this matters. I love abstracts because it is provides a pathway to the viewers imagination. Now that sounds a tad poetic methinks.

I love your use of colors in the pic but I adore you landscapes! Nighttime can go so many ways - scary or romantic or mystical...... it depends on how we crank our minds doesn't it!

Luckily I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow much to my dear wife's annoyance - so I'm not sure where this poem came from. Thanks for popping in Lorna,

I certainly hope to - thanks dusk.

I keep on fighting for my breath and you keep on walking! Looks like we both had the same thing in mind, but you said it more beautifully and eloquently. Well penned, Michael!

Thanks Fred - it's so kind of you to say that but we just said it differently.
