Snow is best seen on Christmas Cards.

IT'S A QUESTION OF AGE ANDY ~ Generally all KIDS and those under 50 can cope ~ but it is difficult for Seniors who can't drive and the busses don't run and they can't walk to the SHOPS etc. Still it's only forecast to last another week ~ Keep warm ~ BRIAN

    • orchidee

Oh woe - too old for snow. Me, that is! Dunno why I moan. I seen it over millions of years!

      • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks STEVE ~ see my answer to ANDY ~ keep warm ~ Yours BRIAN

      • orchidee

Good write as a poem though. Why can't snow be warm?! heehee.

        • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks STEVE ~ your question raises an important question in Physical Science about changes of state & temperature ! Because the average temperature of Planet Earth is now 16 over 95% of water (H-O-H) IS liquid. It freezes @ 0C (hence snow & ice is always COLD) it boils at 100C hence Steam (and boiling water !) is always hot. Water (H-O-H) is a complex molecule and it is bent (104 degrees) not linear ! ICE (and snow) have the same structure as DIAMOND and is very hard ~ hard enough to rip through steel as the TITANIC discovered ~ YOU NEVER MESS WITH ICE. Please you enjoyed the Poem ~ enjoy the SNOW ~ it doesn't last for ever ! YOURS BRIAN !

Since I suffer from cold induced urticaria - I'm afraid I do grumble about it - but not about your poem Brian.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

Sorry about that MIKE ~ We all have our CROSS to bear which is what makes us HUMAN. Pleased you liked the POEM ~ most Landscape Artists really enjoy SNOW ! Yours BRIAN

Hi Michael. I reckon I have slight urticaria too. I get itchy patches when very cold. Not severe with red blotches though. Either that, or I've got fleas! oohh!

              • Michael Edwards

I get very itchy and sometimes wake in the morning with large sores where I\'ve been scratching in my sleep. there is no other surface evidence but the irritation can be intense especially on the arms, legs and back. I have anti-histamine tablets to take and some real power blasters when it gets extreme. Although there is no evidence on the skin it is likened to the opposite of heat rash. At the moment I\'m scratching everywhere - well almost.

As soon as outside temperatures reach down to about freezing it starts and it only takes a few minutes exposure. seems to hereditary as my father also suffered. I do sometimes feel a bit of a fraud as there is nothing to show for it but I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

                • orchidee

I understand Michael. Mine is not severe, but it can drive you mad almost - the itching. Feels like insect bites sometimes but, as you say, nothing to be seen, except rashes in some cases. As long as no bits of us have fallen off - swoon!

Fun Brian! Love to watch snow! Especially at night (through the window) under the moon! Here's Irving Berlin's take on it: https://www.google.com/search?q=snow+irving+berlin&oq=snow+irving+berlin&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.4567j1j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Thanks LORNA ~ I am pleased you like the SNOW ~ I am still Young enough to enjoy all aspects and Seasons of Weather ! Wind ~ Sunny ~ Rain ~ Hail & Snow ~ Donner und Blitzen etc. Thanks for link ~ Love that SONG ~ Warm Hugs ~ BRIAN @@@

Where it's snowing ~ All Winter through
That's where I want to be
                  Snowball throwing ~ That's what I'll do
                  How I'm longing to SKI
Through the SNOW ! ~ AMEN

                • orchidee

C'mon now, who's responsible? Who lit a fire in the last heatwave and caused more global warming, so that the weather goes mad?! ooohh.

                  • BRIAN & ANGELA

Never forget STEVE ~ That Planet Earth (GAIA) is NOT just a lump of ROCK ~ like the Moon & and the other Planets ! The BIOSPHERE makes EARTH a Living Planet ! So when MAN put in constraints (LIKE increased CO2 !) it results in GLOBAL WARMING and to maintain equilibrium GLOBAL COOLING ~ heavy Snow & cooling to MINUS 10C ~ cooler than SIBERIA ! WARNING ~ Don't mess with Mother Earth ~ Adios Amigo ~ BRIAN

                    Mio Caro Amico BRIAN,
Buongiorno! Liked your ballad! Did you get a glimpse of snow covered Rome? It even snowed in my hometown where it rarely snows! Amazing!
                    Un Forte Abbraccio e Baci...

Nice write! When I think of snow I always put a cardinal in the mix! There's a blessing. Beautiful! Glad you are enjoying the snow! Sisterly hugs-Christina

                    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks CHRIS ~ I enjoy it ~ the KIDS enjoy it but it is difficult for SENIORS ~ I\'m close to COLLEGE so I got in but many students didn\'t so classes were closed ! We had people booked in the TRAINING RESTAURANT most of whom made it ~ and Staff who were in enjoyed a FREE A LA CARTE Lunch. We have six inches of SNOW ~ main roads are clear ~ but many Schools Closed (we are NOT in your State ! ) and the SNOW is set in for the next few days ~ I love SNOW ! ANGELA is not so keen because as a PHYSIO she has to deal with Patients recovering from "Snow Breaks" Warm Brotherly Hugs ~ BRIAN @@@@@@@
