You Thought You Knew Me

Accidental Poet

You think you know me now

But let us walk down this road

Life stories we’ll share

Reveal all we really know

The school of life

Teaches you

To be your own teacher

To search your own truth

You’re the teacher and the student

All rolled into one

Answers of the Moon

To questions of the Sun

Where you come from

And where you’re going to

All depends on the journey

And the choices of you

The person you set out to be

May not be who you are

The pull of chance and fate

Determines if you shine like a star

Some dreams change in mid-life

What you thought you wanted

Lost its appeal leaving you

Dreamless and haunted

But new inspiration

Finds you again

Clouds disperse

You’re reborn from the rain

A new outlook upon life

Leaves a smile in your heart

To make the most of each day

From a fresh loving start

You thought you knew me

Until now you’ve met yourself

Now we know each other

With renewed inner wealth

AP - Aren't you wonderful to show us that it is within ourselves to find ourselves - not from the opinions of others......

          • Accidental Poet

Thank you Lorna. One of those poems where the poet discovers as much as the reader.

You're very clever, and I like it. Everything here is interestingly put together. The finisher was exquisite. Nice one.

Very good and very true AP, the road of life has many turnings but they all make us what we are, not what we expected.
