HAEM COMBINES WITH OXYGEN TO FORM OXYHAEM ~ OK
OUR HAEMOGLOBIN is very important to
US ALL ! Ensuring Oxygen in our blood stream
REALLY as important as Chlorophyll is to a Plant !
HOW does Haemoglobin transport the Oxygen ?
A MOLECULE of HAEM contains IRON which picks up O2
ENTERS the bloodstream and travels round the body
MAKING Oxygen available to the cells ~ in the form of
OXYHAEMOGLOBIN ! It releases its Oxygen ~ and then
GOES back to the Lungs and picks up more ~ ad infinitum
LEVELS of Haemoglobin (Red Cells) in the blood are key !
OUR HEARTS need to be healthy ~ to pump Oxygenated
BLOOD round our bodies ~ and then deoxed blood back to
INTERFACE with the lungs to pick up more Oxygen
NOBODY can live without BLOOD & OXYGEN !

Your LUNG / HEART system is your LIFE ! HEAM molecules
are contained in HAEMOGLOBIN which is synthesised in
the bone marrow ~ it takes 10 minutes to synthesis one
"Molecule" of HAEMOGLOBIN ~ we need IRON in our diet !
The diagram shows how HEAM is converted into OXYHAEM
to transfer OXYGEN from the Lung Alveoli to the Pulmonary
Capilliaries ~ back to the PUMP (HEART !) and into the
ARTERIES ! The Deoxygenated Blood is pumped back to the
Lungs via the VEINS ~ We are wonderfully designed ~ AMEN

BIOCHEMISTRY is a beautiful subject to study because it is all about LIFE ON EARTH and how it functions ! So far I have posted poems on CHLOROPHYLL ~ which is the CATALYST which enables green Plants to synthesise GLUCOSE and POLYGLUCOSE (starch & cellulose) to feed all the Animals ( including Humans) on planet Earth. My second on is on HAEMOGLOBIN ~ Red Blood Corpuscles which enable atmospheric OXYGEN to be carried to cells to turn GLUCOSE into energy and CO2 which we exhale ~ ENJOY~ BRIAN XOX

Matters of the heart - and lungs, and whatever else! Oohh, staggers back in amazement at today's biology/science/etc lesson! I knew I wasn't doing something right. I tried not breathing for 24 hours one day. I didn't feel very well after 3 minutes. I reckon I was dead! (??? heehee).
Is the pulmonary artery the only artery that has deoxygenated blood? And the pulmonary vein the only vein that has oxygenated blood? I must know these things! ooh.
Useful bit of Knowledge for a quiz on ANATOMY ! The definitiion of an ARTERY is a blood vessel that flows away from the HEART ~A VEIN flows into the HEART ! The pulmonary ARTERY flows FROM the heart to the LUNGS to oxygenate the BLOOD ~ The OXYGENATED blood flows back INTO the HEART through the pulmonary VEIN and is then pumped round the BODY through the ARTERIES ~ OK ~ Thanks for the Q ~ DOCTOR BRIAN

Well CHRIS the heart with its four chambers is good example of a perfectly designed Pump ! I know people in whom their heart has functioned perfectly for over 100 years ~ able to repair and adjust itself for the demands we make on it through LIFE. As you know HAEMOGLOBIN itself is a wonderful example of designer Form & Function. I look through a Telescope ~ GOD is there and when I look through a Light Microscope and especially an Electron Microscope ~ GOD is there also ! The Heavens declare the Glory of God and "Life on Earth" shows His Handiwork ~ AMEN Yours as always ~ BROTHER BRIAN
