Our escorts to the sky
Stand in brown splendored bark
And lead our eyes upward
To soar the green veils
Of their lacy leaves
Enticing us
To reach to touch
That canopy of blue
That sails the heavens over us
To climb their branches
Like a ladder
For a better view

they certainly try their best to reach for the skies. well penned, Lorna.
thanks Kevin! Funnily enough I have someone coming today to cut one down that cracked in the storm and is about to fall on my house - we only discovered the crack yesterday. He got so scared he came back with ropes on a Sunday to secure the huge limb to the main branch.....it's now his 7:45a.m. today priority to fix it! OMG -
oh dear, they do have their issues and can cause a commotion sometimes amongst us. I wish you well and good luck with the tree felling.
Well the poem is an ode "to the ones that stay up"!
They are all so majestic - hope all goes well with the removal
Thanks Michael! A lucky catch - or there might have been one squashed would be poet in Newtown.....
Very good write Lorna, I hope the tree is removed safely.
I love Johnny Cash, I have all his recordings.
He and his wife were good together... I like this song referencing Pine Trees - although that\'s the culprit that they are cutting down right now as we speak! I\'m watching from the window - my tree guy is like poetry in motion climbing the tree and cutting - wow his wife must worry........ aren't men wonderful - what would we do without them!
Yes we men are wonderful, that is what my wife says, what would she do without me!
The little darlings..........
Trees stand as a reminder to ever look upwards and your poem directs us to reach for the sky - - pity the death of these glorious giants when storm and lightning split them asunder - - - hope all works out well for the felling today Lorna dear - - I believe it needs expert procedures to drop where it ought. - A super read.
Thanks Fay! Hopefully not on the house!! All looks ok.......
A fine write Lorna.
Thank you sir!
Lorna,
So sorry about your tree!
Great pic and poem. So great how you began it...āOur escorts to the sky...ā Thatās an awesome line!
I love the way you described your tree guy...
āmy tree guy is like poetry in motion climbing the tree and cuttingā!
Your ability to write about anything in poetry form is amazing! Actually, youāre amazing!
As far as men are concerned, I can think of a few things we could do without them! However, thatās like a double-edged sword...Can we live with them? Can we live without them? Well, thatās a thought for another day!
Thank you for posting the music clip! Johnny Cash is one of my favorites...his music and his life story!
~Laura~
So much more sunshine now that it's down! So it's a good thing! Now I'll go find a smaller flowering tree instead........
Sounds flowery awesome! š
Thanks Lorna ~ Two of my faves today ~ Trees & Johnny & June. I have felled lots of trees on our Scout Camp Site to build bridges across the River etc Lovely sound when they fall ! Best of luck with yours ! I heard Johnny Cash in America when I was 7 ~ Great Singer especially with June ~ the essence of Country. Thanks for sharing a perfect poem and song ~ Country Hugs ~ BRIAN "Man in Dove Grey" Please check my Boat Race ~ Thanks B.
Some mastery in taking them down!
Youāve confirmed my need to go camping in the woods!
Itās been years since I went camping and my seven year old son has never been.
I love the smell of the tall pines.
The magestic beauty of the Redwoods and sequoia trees.
Lovely poem!
Thank you:)
Thank you Resa! If it ever warms up!
The natural world is so beautiful and honest.
I love watching trees emerge from hibernation in Spring
That it is Sylvia! The only thing we can really count on!
