THE TRIUMPHANT CAMBRIDGE MEN'S CREW !
ONLY TWO BOATS ~ on Old Father Thames
OXFORD & CAMBRIDGE ~ you have to choose
THE whole Country watches ~ both boats
HOPING their favourite won't lose !
I'VE had dealings with CAMBRIDGE
AND I live quite close too
SO the flag that I'm waving
IS always LIGHT BLUE
ON SATURDAY Cambridge had a clean sweep
TECHNIQUE versus BRAWN ~ it made Oxford weep !
THEY won all four* races ~ none of them close
EACH BOAT gave Oxford ~ a slap on the bows !
ONLY 4 miles to CHISWICK from PUTNEY
Rowers from BRITAIN ~ OZ ~ Europe and USA
All fighting fit in their DARK / LIGHT BLUE kit
But I'm pleased it was Cambridge's Day !
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN
* I should explain that there are four races on the day
O & C Men ~ O & C Ladies and a two races with the
Reserve (Men) and Reserve (Ladies) Teams. It is a very
Middle / Upper Class event ~ An event that showcases
Britain at its very best ! The first Lady's race took place
in 1927 the Men's in 1859 ! Comments welcome ~ XOX

A fine write Brian.
Thanks STEVE ~ I only live 50 miles from CAMBRIDGE (nice City for a day out !) and I have academic connections with the University so I always support the LIGHT BLUES ! Great clean sweep this year ! Yours BRIAN
Mio Caro Amico BRIAN,

Un Abbraccio e Baci...

Your words made it all alive in my living room Brian - - a boat race which has always been just out of my reach to see but have watched. As ever your verse has much information on the whys and hows of the famous event.
Mmmm - Pembroke Oxford me but must admit it was good for Cambridge to win for a change - said he with tongue in cheek.
That was fun....... Your English mysteries love Cambridge and so we see so much of it (on screen)..... you had me watching as though I lived there... (well almost)........
