Tune: O Waly Waly
('An upper room did our Lord prepare')
Luke 22 v.1-38 part
*******
Sent forth ahead to prepare a room
Fit for Christ, He the heavenly Groom*
Peter and John sent, and shown the place
Where all would feast by God's good grace
For Christ did say, With earnest desire
With you in this feast I aspire
This Passover before I suffer
And comfort sure on you confer
Take, eat and drink here, of bread and wine
For these be symbols true and fine
Of Christ's blood shed, and body broken
His life given up for all men (mankind)
Let us await, here in fellowship
And to Christ give our true worship
Be those as He said, they continue
With Him in His trials, even you
I shall be there, there shall be my heart
With you, though you would soon depart
To suffer, die, then to rise again
We shall share in your glories then
* Christ as the Groom - the church as His Bride

We shall (and do) share in his glories.

Thanks Fine.
You are His faithful friend Orchidee!
Thanks Lorna.
I love how you pointed out that even the night of his betrayal he was acting as the comforter! Blessed to read this lovely piece!
Thanks blessed. Yes, the Holy Spirit is called the Comforter. Comfort can mean 'solace' and 'strength'.
Why the asterisk? I saw what it denoted, I just wondered why. I love what you based it on though. Neat
Thanks Aislinn. Well, I put in the * to explain about Christ as the heavenly Groom (at end of the poem) as it may have been a bit cryptic and symbolic. I aim to explain 'spiritual' language where I can, where it may not be of obvious meaning.
Thanks STEVE ~ Love the Tune 7 the Organ ~ is that your GRANDSON playing ? Love the poem on the first EUCHARIST ~ something I have celebrated at least once every week for 25 years ~ I became a communicant @ 10 ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN
Thanks Brian. Nope, it's me meself playing of course - I wish! lol. That'll teach me for saying I'm very old - grandson?! lol.
Then again - I sort of grew up in churches where they had Eucharist every Sunday.
I missed it when they had it monthly at another church, and sometimes a bit slap-dash, just fitting it in sometimes, as though it got in the way those Sundays.
Erm, then again, something like the song: 'I wanna scream it out from every mountain top' seems a tad unsuitable for a Communion atmosphere - yet they mean they're sharing the gospel!
Oh I'm bit fuddy-duddy and traditional!
