PETS COME IN ALL SPECIES & SHAPES & SIZES !
DOGS are best as Pets they say
But they all need walkies on a Rainy Day !
CATS are cool ~ aloof and self-contained
But my Friends all love them and noone's complained !
MY FISH in tanks I could watch all day
Better than TV 'cos it's 3D................ OK !
FISH in Pond are expensive to run
Watch out for HERONS they end up in their tum !
My Mam bought me a BUNNY ~ cool cute & funny
She had the luck to meet up with a BUCK
Who gave her ........ seven more in her tummy !
INDOOR BIRDS ~ anathama to me
All BIRDS should be fun and restriction free !
FREE RANGE HENS ~ most useful pet on legs
They live on scraps and cobs of corn
And then lay lots & lots of EGGS !
GUINEA PIGS ~ are smooth and cute
Don't cuddle them 'cos they'll crap on your suit !
HAMSTERS are like Guinea Pigs ~ they need a larger den
They love the feel of a Roulette Wheel
They go round & round & round & round again !
TORTOISES & TURTLES fun but rather slow
They never win a BEAUTY CONTEST in the Village Show !

A fine write Brian. Aww, why guinea pigs c**p on your suit?! Don't wear a suit then, lol. I don't, if I cuddle any of our four piggies, two of which look like the ones in my pic (not an actual photo of them!).
Thanks STEVE ~ Just a joke about the G Pigs ~ but it has happened to me ~ and Hamsters do wee ! The worst Jobs I bet ~ A Dentist ~ Chiropodist or Vet ~ Bad Teeth ~ Bad Feet and Sick Animals all day ! Thanks for you comment ~ BRIAN
Hi Brian - when we had the horse farm there were so many animals running free and they were so happy! I have a hard time seeing them contained (except for loved dogs and cats).... zoos absolutely horrify me............ great ode to our animal friends......
YES indeed FREE RANGE RULES ~ OK ! In the UK we have Safari Parks to give the animals sufficient space ~ and Bird Sanctuaries. The way some Animals are housed and cages in ZOOS is an affront against GOD ! thanks for your comment ~ Bear Hugs ~ Brian ~ Animal Lover !

TOUCHE MICHAEL ~ I knew you would like this one because (%wise) the CANNINES are TOP DOGS ! Cats coming a (close) second ! All the others are way down and SNAKES & HORSES etc dont even features in the TOP TEN ! I guess conditioning has a lot to do with whether you are a CAT or a DOG person ! My Folks always had Cats and still do ! Some of my Blood Relations however prefer Canines ! Yours BRIAN
I know what you mean though Brian. Best not to cuddle piggies, rabbits, etc in one's best clothes. They can get messy!
Hamsters may be more likely to bite - yes? And piggies can give terrible nips. Usually they only think it's food though, unless they don't like us and bite us!
Yes pets are a gift which when we care for them properly provide so much pleasure - - love all the pets in this amusing verse Brian - but have to admit dogs are top of my list. Great read.
THANKS FAY ~ DOGS sure are Top Dog in this list ~ and even a CAT LOVER like me can see why. Cats always remain aloof and detached whereas my observations show me ~ a DOG becomes a member of the FAMILY as soon as they walk through the DOOR !
