ON EASTER SUNDAY ~ An Acrostic 2-6-6 Sonnet.

BRIAN & ANGELA

O HAPPY EASTER SUNDAY

NOTHING can compare

EVERYONE dressed up for Church

AND A RESURRECTION  aire

SUNDAYS are all Special

TIME to worship and reflect

EACH Sunday has a special theme

REFLECTION and Respect !

SOME are extra special

UNUSUAL and Fun

NO ONE forgets NATIVITY

JOSEPH on a DONKEY with MARY on the run !

AND "WHIT WALKS" on Whit Monday

YET of the rest my BEST is always EASTER SUNDAY

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love Angela & Brian

A lovely write Brian. Now - Whit Monday. You must be very old! They don't seem to call it that now. They did about 5 million years ago I recall! heehee.
I think they call it 'Late May Bank Holiday Monday' now. And it don't always line up as being the Monday after Whit Sunday (=Pentecost). It all depends on the date of Easter each year.

YES indeed STEVE it is HISTORICAL and I think a Northern Activity ~ My Mum has photos of Whit Walks and the Girls all dressed in White looking very Angelic ! I don\'t think they have them now except perhaps in WIGAN where time has always stood still ! Pleased you liked the POEM ! Yours BRIAN

I'm from Wigan then. lol. Well, we can allow the Bank Holiday to be called Whit Monday! We're not to fuss too much over days, times, seasons, as St Paul says. Not that we never observe them though!

Reflections on why this time of resurrection is blessed dear Brian - - Whit walks were all the thing in Cornwall too.

Thanks FAY ~ nostalgia and old photos revive many memories of the past ! My Parents remember Whit Walks as if they were yesterday. Trouble is today ~ nobody prints photos anymore ~ they're all ON LINE ! No Holiday snaps to pass round out of focus and with heads chopped off and no slide shows of THE ISLE OF MAN with transparencies. Pleased you enjoyed the POEM ! I like the backgrounds for the titles ~ do you ? It adds a touch of class ! Yours as ever ~ BRIAN

            • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks RON ~ Easter Sunday sure is always the most Special Day in the Christin Calendar ! If CHRIST is NOT RISEN from the DEAD we are still on our SINS and our FAITH is VAIN ! Thanks for your comment ~ Yours BRIAN

              • Goldfinch60

Very good acrostic Brian. Yes Easter is the most special time in the Christian calendar, without the resurrection where would we be?

Thanks ANDY ~ pleased you got the Message ! Rhymong acrostics are a BLACK ART ~ I was pleased with this one ! If CHRIST is not risen from the dead ~ we are of All Men most Miserable ! Yours BRIAN

A lovely acrostic for Easter Sunday! A great tribute sonnet. We must not have "Whit Monday" in America. I can't believe I've never heard of it! Hugs in spirit to you both--Christina

Thanks CHRIS ~ Pleased you liked it ~ Several of the "Christians" on MPS have posted Spiritual Songs & Poems ~ which is a great witness on a secular site. I am very pleased that in the main they are well received ! WHIT SUNDAY (or WHITE SUNDAY) is Pentecost Sunday to celebrate the GIFT of the Holy Spirit to the Church ! All the Children would wear White and they would parade round the Streets in the Sunday or Monday with Banners showing which church they were from. They are very rare in the 21st C ~ They were called WHIT WALKS ! Spiritual Hugs ~ Angela & Brian @@@@@@@
