Michael Edwards

A JOKE IS NOT A JOKE

A joke will never be a joke

when no one ever hears it spoke.

Forgive the bad English but it seems to work regardless. Plus a photo of yet more hellebores

Pardon Michael, I seem to have gone deaf.

    • Michael Edwards

      What did you say?

      • Goldfinch60

        I SAID I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!

        • Lorna

          You two are a riot................

        • Michael Edwards

You know the biggest turn-off for me when reading poetry is incorrect use of the language (unless of course it is intentional - written colloquially for example) and bad punctuation and yet here I am using 'spoke' when it should be 'spoken'. Heigh ho.

          • Lorna

Heigh ho the wind and the rain and the rain it raineth every day.........

I knows it. I usualeee spots it when folk mackes spellyng misteaks. Though this may be correct for around the 11th Century spelling!
Someone might get technical, and say it's some 'perfect tense' or whatever it is - spoke.
And why are they all tense, agitated, stressed?! lol.

Like wot donit drive yer barmy Orchi. Strewf I dunno ows I puts up wiv it like.
Yes why are there so many 'sorry for me' poems - fair puzzles me it does.

The hellebores speak! And why am I laughing?

              • Michael Edwards

THANKS FOR REMINDING US MIKE ~ The whole World's a Stage and we mere players ~ BUT ~ We all need an audience ! Consequently a POEM is not a POEM until it is read and its not christened until it's recited to at minimum of at least one listener ! A "sans mot" Cartoon of course is not a Cartoon until it has been seen etc ! I have small group of MPS friends who both read and comment on my Odd Odes (and v.v) 5 is a good score and (these days) 10 exceptional ! I used to be on a Poetry Programme where the number of comments was flagged up ! If I saw one with ZERO comments I always added ONE to encourage ~ OK ~ Your Friend BRIAN ! Please check my Poem and my FUSION on Chocolate ! Thanks B.

So right Brian - wish we had a decent poetry circle here in Market Harborough,

                  • BRIAN & ANGELA

YES MICHAEL ~ I am a Performance Poet (like Pam Ayres or Benjamin Zephaniah) and a Live (and Lively) Poetry Circle is always a GAS ! You would probably have to travel to Leicester or Nottingham ? Thanks for your repost and thanks for your excellent Poem on CHOCOLATE ~ I have posted an agreement ! Yours BRIAN

                      Cheers Brian.
