MY BROTHER IN LAW
Model Railway Fanatic
He's driving my Sister
ADIABATIC !
He's not in the House
He's up in the Attic
Plenty of space
So he's not in her face !
It all started a few years ago
Circular track and the gauge double O
A vintage Steam Engine
And Carriages three
Neat & Compact exceedingly twee !
But now he wears a British Rail Hat
And swears if his Engine's
Derailed by the CAT !
He now has a Station ~ Sidings as well
And now sprays the Attic
With a Shunting Yard SMELL !
He's added an inside track
Outside one too
More Trains IN & OUT
Than dear old WATERLOO !
He spends all his time
His layout enhancing
My Sister felt lonely
And took up Line Dancing
She met a nice BATCHELOR ~ FRED
Who invited her home
Not to BED ! but to see
His TRAIN SET in the SHED !

Like artists and poets they get totally obsessed - there's a group which meets at the same venue as the one where our Art Club meets and they are there for hours shunting trains round tracks - well good for them I say.

Pleased I made you smile ANDY ~ What amuses me is that (like all hobbyists !) they take it so so seriously. We all had train sets when we were SEVEN but most of us grew out of it like collecting Postcards etc ! Another relative is a SUCROLOGIST ! She collects sugar bags and has over 1000 ! Your sister has a "nose" for trainmen! I laughed. We had a very snooty executive at a company I worked for years ago - and his secret vice apparently was going home to a roomful of trains - set up with towns, villages, countryside!!! His other self........
A fine write Brian. Oh yes, no 'excitement', no swooning - see train set in shed, not go to bed!
Well, in younger teenage days I knew a friend with train set in his spare room. Difficult to always meet up though, as his dad was drunk sometimes, and his mum rather a hypochondriac - sadly!
